Hey garden friends! What fun plants do you have growing around your home?

We have a pineapple growing! Every time we eat a pineapple, we cut off the top, root in water and then place in a pot. This is our 2nd pineapple this year! (Tip- you need to grow them in a pot- they like to be inside in winter!)

When we teach kids at the Urban Farm, we show them the ladybug life cycle. They are an important “helper bug” around the garden, eating the aphids that eat our plants!

In the photos from the garden:

On the back of the pear leaf, you’ll see both aphids and the yellow ladybug eggs. The ladybug larva look pretty weird, so make sure you don't squish them by mistake- they are eating aphids! Then they attach themselves somewhere for their pupa stage, and emerge as the ladybugs we think of as a gardener's friend!
