Fellowship of the Fervent

Fellowship of the Fervent Fellowship of the Fervent was born out of EncourageMen. The mission did not change, the lane got clearer.

We gather weekly to follow Jesus, sharpen one another, and build men who are being made whole in spirit, soul, and body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

“The workplace is not an environment to hide or conform. It’s a place to be a light in the darkness. If we call ourselves followers of Christ and we’re at work does anyone know it? Do people know we are God-fearing, that we walk in integrity?” -Jason Davis, Author/Speaker/Coach, CBMC

In his ‘devotion-ar’ on “4-Ways to EX-CEL in the Workplace”, Jason provided practical guidance on how to let our light shine in the workplace. Work existed in the beginning, it started out in the garden as partnership and fellowship with God. Citing the example of Daniel, Jason said “Excellence is not based on where we are. It’s based on who we are.”
(Gen 2:15, Col 3:24-25, Dan 6:3).

“We have to value our redemption. We belong to Christ. We’ve been redeemed to conquer, right? Redeemed by faith-it’s not by works we’ve done, it is through faith - through believing in what Christ has purchased for us.
And it’s with a purpose. In other words, this redemption is requiring us to do something, to accomplish something with this redemption.” - Jacob Varughese

In his message “Redeemed by Faith To Conquer”, Jacob passionately revealed to us through the scriptures that we are sons and daughters of God with divine value. That through Christ we are “redeemed from fear and death, sickness and disease, redeemed from crisis to Christ, redeemed to be fruitful. That’s our inheritance, that’s our heritage.” (Gal 3:11, 13-14; 1 Pet 1:18, Deut 28:1-14)

“Joseph is to be used by God to deliver Israel from a famine. After what his brothers did (throwing him in a hole, getting him sold as a slave in Egypt, etc)…if these guys (his brothers) pull-up on him like that, there’s nothing but revenge and bitterness in his heart-unless God takes him through that process (preparing his heart). God is doing that in the life of Joseph, and He wants to do the same in us. But we resist that process”.- Ed Collins

Where does our lives need repentance and forgiveness? In sharing with us regarding “The Preparation of the Heart” Ed explained how just as the seed fell in different kinds of soil in Mark 4, God prepares our heart - roots out bitterness and unforgiveness - as long as we do not resist the process. Preparation of the heart is a process. The only way the soil of our hearts can be properly cultivated is by the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. (Prov 16:1, Mark 4:13-20)

“Do you remember when Jesus found you? I think it’s funny when someone says ‘I found Jesus’. I’m like ‘No you didn’t. You didn’t even know you were lost until he showed you.” - Marty Jacobs-Project Manager and former pastor, Southeastern Restoration

Have the controversies of life caused us to lose focus in our work, parenting or marriage life? Marty showed us from John chapter 9 that there was more controversy surrounding how a man blind from birth was healed than celebrating Jesus’ providing the miraculous gift of new sight. Jesus is at work throughout our lives that He might be displayed and glorified in us. Our response-like the healed blind man- should be to worship Him.

(John 9:1-7; 30-38)
