Batteries not Included: Too Tired for the Lord
Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Often, I find myself filled with energy when it comes to creating a new PowerPoint presentation for a client. When invited out somewhere I am filled with anticipation. I still enjoy going out and watching a good movie. And the list could go on. I am certain some of you reading this can add to the list: Baseball games, softball games, Out Clubbing (yes that is still a thing for some folks)! Or plain “hanging out.” Now when it comes to doing Gods work … where is your energy level? How often do you know that you need to study his word, but you are just too tired? How often do you know that you need to Pray, but you are just too tired? How often do you know you need to attend a church service (virtual or in-person), but you are just too tired?
Being brutally honest, this used to be me on a regular basis. I could do “ALL THINGS” (Philippians 4:13) if it were not pertaining to the will and the work of the Lord. I placed a higher priority on the pleasures of Life than on the preparation of my After Life! The sad part is far too many are still too tired for the Lord.
Keep this in mind, after you have enjoyed the family, friends and fellowship and you still know that you have not spent any time with the father, remember the promise in Matthew 11:28-29: “Come to me, all you who are weary!
He has provided two promises if we bring our mental/physical fatigue to him – He will give us rest and we can learn (more about him / and our priorities) from Him. No batteries required because he is the Real Energizer
I Love you to Life.
