I said what I said in this video: If you have lost your passion for teaching, please, for the sake of the children—leave. Staying in the classroom when you don't want to be there isn't just "hanging on," it is doing a disservice to our students.
I am seeing students currently grade levels behind in math. When I ask them about their previous experience, I hear the same heartbreaking thing: "We didn't do anything last year." I have students transferring in mid-year who are missing fundamental 5th-grade skills that should have been taught months ago.
Our kids deserve educators who show up for them every single day. If you can't be that person anymore, it is okay to walk away. But please, don't stay and let them fall through the cracks.
