This is what it looks like when you don't just tell children that they are the next generation, but give them room to lead right now.

During our Beyond the Veil Intercessory Prayer, our 9 year old miracle baby, Sis. Janae Newkirk, took her place as Intercessor on Duty and helped cover her own generation in prayer as they return to school. She wasn't performing for the adults. She was praying from within the very generation we were gathered to cover. And knowing Janae's testimony makes hearing her thank God carry even more weight. This is our miracle baby, a child whose life we watched Abba preserve, now using that life to pray, give thanks, and lead others into His presence.

And this wasn't Youth Day. This wasn't a children's program or a special moment created so we could put the kids on display. This is how we do ministry at The Sanctuary. Our children are intentionally integrated into the life of our services, given opportunities to pray, worship, serve, learn, and discover how God can use them now.

And we're doing it all virtually. From her home, Janae was able to help lead people across the nation in prayer with her family close by, reminding us once again that discipleship, spiritual formation, and ministry don't require four walls.

There is no shame in realizing that the version of you that carried you through one season may not be equipped to carry you through the next.

That version of you served a purpose. She adapted. She endured. She survived. She learned how to function under the conditions she was given. But honoring who you had to become does not mean you have to remain her forever.

Sometimes growth requires giving yourself permission to say, β€œThat worked for me then, but God is showing me something different now.”

You are not betraying your old self by growing beyond her. You are honoring everything she survived by allowing God to continue the work He began in you.

New seasons may require new responses, new boundaries, new thinking, and a new version of you. πŸ’œ

Our Intercessor on Duty, Sis. Janae Newkirk, along with Sis. Tamara Bass and Prayer Coordinator Min. Whitney McClendon, will lead us in a special Back to School Prayer as students, teachers, administrators, school staff, and families across the nation begin another academic year.

At just 9 years old, Janae is not praying for a generation she has only heard about. She is part of the generation we're covering. There is something powerful about allowing our children to have a voice at the altar and giving them space to pray concerning the very environments they walk into every day.

Tonight, we are covering our children as they enter classrooms, hallways, campuses, buses, cafeterias, playgrounds, and every space their feet will touch. We are praying for protection, wisdom, discernment, confidence, academic success, healthy friendships, compassionate educators, safe schools, and the courage to remain who God has called them to be.

At The Sanctuary, we don't simply prepare our children to serve God someday. We integrate them into the life of ministry now. We make room for them to pray, worship, serve, and exercise the gifts God has already placed inside of them.

Tonight, we return Beyond the Veil, and our very own Sis. Janae Newkirk is back as Intercessor on Duty! After closing out our third quarter of intercession strong, Janae returns to help lead us into another sacred time of prayer.

At just 9 years old, Janae continues to remind us why The Sanctuary intentionally integrates our children into the life of ministry. We aren't simply preparing them to serve God someday. We give them room to pray, worship, serve, and exercise their gifts right now.

You can be grateful for the version of you that knew how to survive and still recognize that survival was never meant to become your permanent identity.

Honor the strength it took to make it through. Appreciate the wisdom you gained along the way. But give yourself permission to grow beyond the responses, habits, and patterns that belonged to conditions that no longer exist.

Growth does not require you to reject who you were. It invites you to make room for who you are becoming. πŸ’œβœ¨

Today, The Sanctuary pauses to celebrate a woman whose love has touched far more lives than she may ever fully know, our beloved Mother Cynthia Bass. πŸ’•

To know Mother Bass is to know what it feels like to be mothered. She loves deeply, nurtures freely, gives selflessly, and somehow always finds room in her heart to care for one more person. She is truly a mother to many, and never just in title, but in the way she covers, encourages, supports, and shows up.

And if Mother Bass knows your name… you have been prayed for. πŸ˜‚πŸ™πŸ½

She is a prayer warrior and an intercessor at heart, faithfully carrying our Covenant Partners and their families before God. Some battles have shifted, some doors have opened, some strength has returned, and some people have kept going because somewhere, Mother Bass was calling their name in prayer. πŸ₯ΉπŸ”₯

She is also one of the most loyal and consistent presences within The Sanctuary. Sometimes the things God allows us to see are not meant to shame us. They are evidence of His mercy.

Revelation gives us an opportunity to recognize what we could not recognize before, examine what has been forming beneath the surface, and respond differently with the wisdom we have now.

God loves us too much to allow us to remain unaware of the very things that may be keeping us from becoming who He is calling us to be.

So when God shows you something, do not immediately run from it, defend it, or condemn yourself because of it. Ask Him, β€œWhat are You inviting me to see, understand, heal, unlearn, or change?”

Because sometimes the revelation itself is the beginning of freedom. πŸ‘€πŸ’œ

The conditions may have shaped parts of you, but they do not get to define the whole of you.

Some things were formed because you had to adapt, endure, protect yourself, or simply make it through. Honor what those layers helped you survive, but remember: you are more than what happened to you, more than the environment that formed you, and more than the version of yourself you had to become to survive it.

God can meet you in the layers and remind you that your history may explain you, but it does not have the authority to determine who you become next. πŸ’œβœ¨
