HB 123 Passed!!! For 10 years I have been advocating at the Georgia Assembly for a change to this terrible law which allowed individuals with intellectual disabilities to be executed in capital cases. This Wednesday, I had the opportunity to witness the Georgia Senate pass the bill with amendments. Go back to the House and pass. This was a collaborative effort from interested groups, various faith traditions, and citizens. Never forget how important your voice is.

Thank you to Georgia Catholics Against the Death Penalty, Georgians Against the Death Penalty, the Southern Center for Human Rights, all involved faith tradition and you, our citizens living with intellectual disabilities. You are what keeps us moving forward!

Lawmakers have tried multiple times to change Georgia's strict legal standard to prove that someone has an intellectual disability and shouldn't get the death penalty.
