The numbers 108 and 801 hold profound significance in the teachings of the Voodoo Kundalini Temple.

In Ifa, 801 Irunmole, or spiritual beings/orishas, are entrusted with the vital task of maintaining and harmonizing our solar system. Each Irunmole plays a crucial role in the cosmic order, ensuring the balance and well-being of all creation.

In Vedic cosmology, the number 108 is revered as the foundation of creation, representing the universe and the totality of existence. This sacred number embodies the unity between the individual and the cosmos, reflecting the interconnectedness of all things.

In addition, the gematria of 2nd-century Bishop Irenaeus assigns the value of 801 to the Alpha and Omega, symbolizing God as both the beginning and the end.

At the Voodoo Kundalini Temple, a unique meditation technique is practiced using 108 mala beads to chant the names of 256 Irunmole that descended to Earth, manifesting within the elemental forces of nature and the human body, known as the 256 Odu Ifa.

This practice aims to absorb and awaken these primordial energies within the practitioner, aligning them with the cosmic forces that govern the universe.

Eshu: The Alchemical God

Within the Voodoo Kundalini Temple (Esoteric Order of Eshu), Eshu transcends his role as the Orisha of the crossroads. He becomes Eshu, the Alchemical God. Alchemy, the ancient dance between science and spirit, seeks to transform base materials into their purest forms, mirroring the soul's journey towards enlightenment.

Eshu holds a unique position in this dance. Before any other spirit is invoked, Eshu is called upon. He acts as the gatekeeper, the very doorway between the physical and spiritual realms. In alchemical terms, Eshu embodies the Philosopher's Stone or Prima Materia – the formless, primordial essence from which all creation originates. This raw potential, holding the spark of all possibilities, is crucial to understanding the transformational process.

Eshu's significance extends further through the tria prima: sulfur, mercury, and salt. These elements represent the soul, spirit, and body, respectively.

1. Sulfur (Soul): Eshu's fiery, catalytic nature aligns perfectly with the energetic force of transformation that resides within the soul.

2. Mercury (Spirit): His role as a mediator and the conduit for Kundalini energy finds its echo in the fluidity and transmutation symbolized by mercury.

3. Salt (Body): Just as salt grounds and stabilizes, Eshu embodies the ability to manifest spiritual insights within the physical world, particularly at the crossroads of life.

Therefore, Eshu, as the embodiment of these alchemical principles, becomes essential for any spiritual interaction. He bridges the gap between the seen and unseen, facilitating the flow of divine energy and initiating the transformative journey within the EOE.
