Too many people are struggling to put food on the table or
gifts under the tree. The good news? You can do something
about it. Today is Giving Tuesday, when we’re called on to help
people in need. You can do that by supporting local initiatives like
the Jay Weaver Food Pantry, which distributes tens of thousands
of pounds of food year-round to people in Cherokee and Cobb
counties, and/or Santa’s Caravan, which provides presents to
children who might otherwise have no gifts to open on Christmas
morning.
Contributions enable the food pantry to buy canned goods, milk,
eggs, produce and milk at low prices from the Atlanta Community
Food Bank. Your support helps Santa’s Caravan provide toys and
gifts including books, dolls and outfits to children referred by local
schools. Each child receives a warm coat, hat and gloves as well
as underwear and socks. Their parents receive 120-180 pounds
of food and kitchen items.
The Jay Weaver Food Pantry and Santa’s Caravan have
operated for years from Heritage Presbyterian Church on Bells
Ferry Road. Please join us (link in comments)
