There’s a peace that comes from knowing God, and it isn’t dependent on our circumstances going well. It’s rooted in confidence that our Father see’s, care’s, and is at work in ways we may not yet recognize. This is the kind of deep, sustaining peace the world cannot provide, and it’s available to all who seek the Lord and trust His wisdom above their own understanding.
Wisdom doesn’t eliminate hardship, but it does anchor us in the truth that God is good, faithful and present with us, even in season we don’t understand.

John 16:33
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

King James Version (KJV)

The role of the Christian is clear. We have not been commissioned merely to improve ourselves. We have been commissioned to proclaim Jesus Christ. There is nothing wrong with growing, learning, becoming healthier, or improving areas of our lives. However, when Christianity becomes nothing more than an endless pursuit of personal improvement, it becomes centered upon self rather than Christ.

Some Christians move from one conference to another, one seminar to another, and one self-help event to another. They are constantly learning how to improve their lives, increase their confidence, accomplish their dreams, or discover their potential. Yet the question remains: When will they arise and shine? When will they carry the light to someone who is still sitting in darkness?

The Christian life cannot be reduced to endless introspection. At some point, we must stop looking only at ourselves and begin looking at the multitudes. Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” He did not say, “Go into all the world and teach people how to build their self-esteem.” He did not say, “Go into all the world and help everyone discover their best life.” He commanded us to preach the Gospel.
