What a journey we have been on as we have gone through this ALPHA course- not just the content that has been presented and our own processing of what each presentation means for our personal lives, but also being aware of the bonds of friendship that God has been creating!
So we began with the question of what gives meaning and purpose to our lives, what makes a more complete sense of living. But often times, we have a struggle with the Church. Is this really an optional part of living life to the full? We each have had our own experiences with the local church. Some of us have been taught about the Church- by just our practical involvement and/or our observations, or we have been influenced by others about the nature and purpose of the Church?
What does the Bible have to say about the Church? Is it just another man-made institution? What is God's design for the Church? Is the Church really that important for my life?

We will look at some of our misconceptions about the Church? We will explore this topic. You'll be given a chance to learn and to consider, to receive good news and to ask questions. What a wonder-full opportunity we have to encounter God's Word as we come together on Wednesday, December 10th at 6 pm.

We have been talking about the possibility of coming together the following Wednesday, Dec. 17, to view the one presentation that we did not cover during the Holy Spirit retreat- "How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?" Is this something you would like to do? We had also talked about having a simple meal together, maybe with a Christmas theme. Is that something you would like to do?

Does God heal today? This is our topic for this Wednesday's {December 3 at 6pm] exploration into this discovery of One who loves us so much that He not only came to save our souls, but also give us a new spirit and a new body. Who gives us meaning and purpose, new life and wonder that we never thought possible!

Does God heal today? I encourage you the Bible and take notes on those passages where God is healer [even in the Old Testament]. Look especially in the Gospels [Matthew, Mark, Luke, John,] and underline or write down all the places that Jesus healed, who He healed, how He did it?
Write down or underline in the Book of Acts all the passages that speak about healing. In the Letters of the New Testament, write down passages that deal with healing. What about the Book of Revelation?

This topic helps us to see dimensions of who God is, what God does, and who we are that helps us to marvel at the goodness and grace of God.

Hope you are ready for this week's [November 20] video and time for disussion and our coming together again!
We have been working our way through some very foundational building blocks- Who Is Jesus; Why Did Jesus Die? Can I have Faith; Why and How I Should Pray; Why and How I can read the Bible; How Is Holy Spirit; What Does the Holy Spirit Do'; How Can I receive Holy Spirit; How Does God Guide Us; How do I Resist Evil- all in the discovery of who we are and what is our purpose. Through each step, we have been learning how Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We have become more and more aware that in the person and work of Jesus, God has done and is doing great and wonderful things, that He loves us in very real ways, but also in ways that far have exceeded our expectations! We have heard the greatest news- God Loves me, you! God's love triumphs! Why is it important for us to share this with others and how do we do that? This is the topic that we are exploring this Wednesday, November 20th at 6PM.

We are meeting on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm. Our time of fellowship around snacks or a simple meal is then followed by a video presentation. This week we are exploring "Why and How Do I Pray." In the previous weeks our topics have been "Is there more to life than this?" in which raised the issue about living a full and purposeful life and offering the person of Jesus who said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. Then we dived into what do we know about Jesus...noting that historians around the time of Jesus' life talked about him as a real, historical figure; we also looked at what He said about Himself, and what kind of impact He had on his followers, individuals since then and upon our world. Our next area of exploration was the question around "Why Did Jesus die?", since He is primarily known through his death and resurrection. Last week our topic was "How Can I have faith?", in which we learned that faith is based upon evidence...not just a blind leap and that it is a gift. We have enjoyed good conversations, learning from each other and from the contents of these presentations.

We are so grateful for the time we had at the Amherst County Fair...to meet people, listen to them, and to share not only about our Invitational event on Wednesday, September 24, at the Madison Heights Communuty Center, but more importantly the wonderful reality of how much God loves the people of our county! God is at work in our midst! It is better than we imagine, I am astonished!😃
