→ THE BIBLE:

We believe the 66 books of the Bible are God’s divinely inspired Word (given to man, without

error), so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love. It is the ultimate and final authority on all Christian beliefs and living.

→ GOD:

There is one God who eternally exists in three distinct persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). God created all that exists from nothing out of love. God rules and sustains all things through His divine power. God providentially operates in human history to fulfill His plan of salvation. Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19; Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2; Romans 11:33-36

→ JESUS:

Jesus is fully God yet humbled himself to become God’s Son (a human born of a virgin). Jesus lived a sinless life. His undeserved death on a cross was an acceptable substitute for the sins of humanity. Jesus physically rose from the dead and ascended to the Father, where He reigns as our King and mediator. Jesus will visibly return one day to end this age and judge all mankind. → THE HOLY SPIRIT:

The Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ. When we accept Christ as our Savior, we will receive the Holy Spirit to live inside us. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live like Christ, to help us understand the Bible, strengthens our prayer life, and equips us to serve the church.

→ HUMANITY:

All people are made in the image of God. We are created out of love to be like Him and glorify Him. We are created with tremendous potential for good and the ability to choose good or evil. All people at some point choose disobedience to God, which is called sin. Sin results in alienation from God, which affects every area of our lives. Sin causes suffering in our world and the need for a Savior. Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-2; Romans 3:23; Psalms 139:13-16; Colossians 2:13-15

→ SALVATION:

All people choose to rebel against God and are in need of salvation, which cannot be purchased or earned. The Gospel is the Good News of salvation provided by Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. This is a free gift of God that can be received through faith. It is available to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Faith is expressed in repentance, baptism by immersion, and a life submitted to Christ. John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Acts 2:38-40; Romans 5:10; 6:23; 10:10; Ephesians 2:8-10

One week from Saturday, we're putting our faith into action.

We're hosting Hope Building Hope on September 19, and we're inviting our Hope City family to come serve alongside us.

We're partnering with Build Hope to frame two houses right in our parking lot.

These homes will be donated to Habitat for Humanity and eventually become homes for families in need.

No construction experience needed. Just a willing heart and a few hours to give.

We'll spend the morning working side by side, serving families we may never meet, and building something that will become a home for someone who needs it.

And if you've been wanting to invite someone to Hope City, this is a pretty low-key way to do it.

No pressure. No expectations. Just a bunch of people coming together to serve families in need.

Bring a friend. Bring a neighbor. Bring your coworker. Bring someone who's been curious about Hope City but hasn't made it through the doors yet.

Well, summer is officially winding down.

School is back. The long weekend is over. The routines are kicking back in.

And if we're being honest, it can take a minute or two to find our rhythm again.

Maybe your mornings are a little earlier. Your calendar is a little fuller. Your house is a little louder.

Maybe you're still figuring out how to get everyone out the door on time.

Whether you're heading into a new school season, getting back into a work routine, or just trying to keep up with everyday life, there's a lot competing for our attention.

And when life gets busy, it's easy to listen without really listening. To respond before we think. To let frustration get the better of us.

That's where James 1:19–27 gives us something worth holding onto.

Be quick to listen. Slow to speak. Slow to become angry.

Simple?

Sure.

Easy?

Not always.

James reminds us that it's not enough to simply hear God's Word. We're called to put it into practice.

It's listening when we'd rather respond.

It's choosing our words when we're frustrated.

It's giving grace when we don't feel like it.

It's taking what we hear on Sunday and letting it show up in the way we live the rest of the week.

So wherever this week finds you, take a breath.

Listen before you answer. Give grace before frustration gets the final word.

Then go live it out.

One invitation could change everything.

You probably have someone you’ve been meaning to invite to church. You’ve thought about asking, but somehow “next Sunday” keeps happening.

So make the plan.

Send the text. Ask them to come with you. Grab lunch afterward. Keep the conversation going.

We never really know what someone is carrying. They may be doing great, or they may be walking through something they haven’t told anyone about.

Be bold. Make the invitation. You never know what God might do with it.

Sometimes we spend a lot of time trying to figure out what will make life feel meaningful.

We work hard.
We set goals.
We take care of our families.
We try to make good choices.

And somewhere along the way, we can start believing that if we just get enough things right, we'll finally feel fulfilled.

But the more we look for meaning in the things around us, the more we realize they can’t give us what we’re looking for.

Ecclesiastes brings us back to what really matters:

“Fear God and keep his commandments.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13

Fearing God means recognizing who He is and allowing that to shape the way we live.

It's not just something for Sunday morning. It affects our priorities, our decisions, our relationships, and what we choose to spend our lives pursuing.

The key to a meaningful life isn't found in having more or accomplishing more.

It's found in knowing God and living with Him at the center.

Ever wonder why the things of this world never seem to be quite enough?

We can reach a goal, buy the thing, finish the project, have a good day, and still find ourselves wondering, “Is there supposed to be more?”

Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us that God has placed eternity in our hearts. That deep longing for something bigger than what this life can offer isn't an accident. We were made for more than what is temporary.

The world can give us moments of happiness, success, comfort, and accomplishment. But none of those things were ever meant to carry the weight of eternity.

Our hearts were made for God.

And in Jesus, we find a hope that doesn't end when circumstances change, or this life comes to an end. We find the promise of something eternal.

Whatever we're chasing this week, let's remember what our hearts were made for.

Save this for the days when temporary things feel a little too temporary. 💛

On Thursday, we asked you how the book of Ecclesiastes ends. Time to reveal it. 🧠

The answer is B) Fear God and keep His commandments.

"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind." (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

After weeks of chasing meaning under the sun, after the grind, the pursuit of more, and the simple gifts, this is where the whole book lands. Not on a formula, but on God Himself.

This Sunday, we bring the series home with our final message.

Bible challenge, and this one you'll actually have to look up. 🧠

Ecclesiastes ends with Solomon's big conclusion, the part he calls "the end of the matter."

After chapters of chasing meaning, he sums the whole thing up in just two things.

What are they?

A) Work hard and rest well.
B) Fear God and keep His commandments.
C) Love God and love people.
D) Drink more water and go to bed earlier.

Not everybody ends up with a job they love. But the work still matters more than we think.

The shift nobody says thank you for. The same tasks on repeat. The job that keeps the lights on but doesn't exactly set your heart on fire.

It's easy to save your best effort for the things that feel important and just quietly coast through the rest.

But Ecclesiastes offers a different way to look at it.

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might." (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

Notice it doesn't say whatever's impressive, or whatever gets noticed. Just whatever your hand finds.

The ordinary work in front of you, done with your whole heart, means something to God, even on the days it feels invisible to everyone else.

You're not just clocking in. Whatever you're doing this week, bring your whole self to it.

Ever get to the end of a day and realize you don't really remember living it?

You were there for it. You just weren't quite there, if you know what we mean.

Half the day went to worrying about tomorrow. The other half went to replaying yesterday. And the actual day, the ordinary, good, right-in-front-of-you day, quietly slipped past while you were somewhere else in your head.

Here's the thing we forget. Today doesn't come back around. This exact ordinary day, the people in it, the small good things in it, only happens once.

This Sunday, we're getting into what it looks like to actually show up for the life that's right in front of you, and why that's not just good advice; it's a gift worth receiving.
