On this day of giving thanks,
I turn first to the East,
the place of new beginnings,
of the rising Sun, the place of warmth, vitality, and the Fire that gives life its spark.
May its flame open our hearts,
reminding us of joy, compassion,
and the fierce love that carries us through our journeys.
I honor the South,
the domain of Earth, the plant people, the animal people,
the stone people, the waters and winds—
who continue to teach us how to live in balance.
I give thanks to the Earth beneath me,
the first Mother, who nourishes every being without condition.
May her steady strength ground us,
remind us of where we come from,
and teach us to walk with integrity upon the land.
May we remember our responsibility
to protect and honor her in return.
I honor the West,
the realm of Water, of introspection,
of the setting Sun and the deepening of feeling.
May the healing waters cleanse our griefs,
soften our burdens,
and teach us to flow with life as it comes.
I honor the North,
the domain of Air—the breath that awakens us.
May the fresh winds clear our minds
and help us greet the world with clarity, vision,
and the courage to begin again.
I give thanks to the Ancestors,
human and more-than-human—
the ones who walked before us,
the ones who keep watch,
the ones whose prayers still whisper in my bones.
the place of wisdom, endurance, and ancestors.
And I give thanks to the living nations of the natural world—and all the star-people who guide us
with light older than memory.
On this day, may my gratitude be more than a word.
May it be a way of walking,
a way of offering,
a way of remembering our place
in the great circle of life.
