"But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give these voluntary offerings? Truly, You are the owner of everything, and what we have given You, we have received from You.
Before You, we are foreigners and pilgrims, just as our ancestors were. Our days on earth are but a shadow without hope.
Lord our God, everything we have gathered to build a temple for Your holy name comes from You. Everything is Yours!
I know, my God, that You test the heart and love integrity. Therefore, with an upright heart I have willingly offered all these things, and I have seen with joy that Your people, present here, have brought You their offerings.
Lord, God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep these thoughts forever in the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts toward You.
Grant also to my son/
(daughter) a wholehearted devotion, so that he may obey and put into practice Your commandments, statutes, and laws. Enable him (her)to build the temple for which I have made this provision."
Then David encouraged the whole assembly: "Praise the Lord your God!" So the whole assembly praised the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and bowed low before the Lord and the king.
