Sunday School Schedule Update

There will be no Sunday School on September 6 due to the holiday weekend and many volunteers being out of town. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, and we’ll see everyone back on September 13!

💦☀️ Back-to-School Splash! ☀️💦

We had SO much fun at our Back to School Splash this past Sunday! There were lots of laughs, lots of water, and plenty of smiles as we celebrated the start of a new school year together! 💙

We are so thankful for all of our kids and families who came out to join the fun. We love getting to make memories together and are excited for all that’s ahead for our Kids Ministry this year! 🙌

We're SLIDING into an awesome new school year at our Kids Back-to-School Party THIS SUNDAY, August 30, from 5:00–6:30 PM!

Children 5th grade and under are invited for an evening of inflatable obstacle course, bounce house with slide, fun, games, fellowship, and a great way to celebrate the start of the school year. Dinner will be provided! Please come dressed in a swimsuit under your clothes or wear clothes that can get wet, and don't forget a towel!

Parents are highly encouraged to stay. Since we'll be outside in an area that is not fenced in, we would love for families to join in the fun and help us keep everyone safe. Grab your friends and come make a splash as we kick off an amazing school year together!

🎉🍿 Promotion Sunday was POPPING! 🍿🎉

What a fun morning in Sunday school as we celebrated Promotion Sunday with a “Popping Up” theme! We had so much fun together enjoying popcorn with all kinds of toppings, plus sweet treats like Pop-Tarts, Ring Pops, and Blow Pops! 🍬🍿

The kids had a blast, and while I didn’t do the best job capturing every classroom moment (oops ), I did manage to grab a few sweet photos of the kids and our popcorn setup to share with you!

We are so excited for this new season in Sunday school and all that God is going to do in our kids’ lives. 💛

Join us on Sunday, August 9, as we celebrate Promotion Sunday and pray over our students as they begin a new school year!

Children and youth are encouraged to bring their backpacks to worship for our Blessing of the Backpacks. During the service, we'll pray for all of our students, teachers, school staff, and families as the new school year begins. Each student and educator will also receive a small gift to attach to their backpack as a reminder that their church family loves them, is praying for them, and is cheering them on all year long.

Day 4 of Connect Serve Week went out with a bang! 🕵️‍♂️💙

Today we wrapped up our Secret Agent mission by looking at John 20:19–22 and learning that we are all part of God’s team, sent out to share the love and hope of Jesus with the world.

This afternoon we had the opportunity to serve at Grace Klein Community. Our kids got a behind-the-scenes look at how ministry happens every day as they helped with social media, sorted school supplies, clothing, and books, and even finished cutting strawberries for homemade jam!

We are so proud of these students for serving with joyful hearts all week long. They showed that you don’t have to do big things to make a big difference, you just have to be willing to say “yes” when God sends you.

What an incredible week of loving, serving, and sharing God’s love! ❤️

Day 3 of Connect Serve Camp was another incredible day of being Mission Undercover! 🕵️❤️

Today we focused on Matthew 5 and learned that a true servant of Jesus leads with humility. It’s not about being noticed, it’s about showing God’s love through the way we serve others.

Our students spent the day making peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and packing sack lunches for the guests at the Firehouse Shelter in downtown Birmingham. Along the way, we had meaningful conversations about homelessness, what life can be like for those experiencing it, and practical ways we can show the love of Christ to our neighbors.

We wrapped up the day with a sweet treat at Unless U Scoops, where we got to support a wonderful ministry that provides vocational training and employment opportunities for adults with special needs.

We’re so proud of these kids for serving with compassionate hearts, willing hands, and humble spirits. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for our final day! 💙🙌

Day 2 of Connect Serve Week was another incredible day! 💙

This morning we talked about Jesus’ words in Matthew 25 and what it means to truly NOTICE the people around us who need help. Jesus reminds us that when we serve others, it’s as if we are serving Him. What an amazing challenge for all of us!

This afternoon our group had the opportunity to serve alongside a respite ministry for individuals living with memory loss. While we aren’t able to share photos from our time there, our students had so much fun playing balloon volleyball, making crafts, singing songs, and calling bingo. More importantly, they shared smiles, laughter, and kindness with every person they met.

We are so proud of these students for serving with joyful hearts, stepping outside their comfort zones, and showing the love of Christ in such a meaningful way. ❤️

What an AMAZING first day of Connect Serve Camp! 💙

This morning we kicked things off by talking about what it means to be willing agents for God, looking at Isaiah’s response: “Here I am. Send me!” We had a blast playing games, worshiping together, and diving deeper in small groups.

Then it was time to put our faith into action! We headed to Urban Ministry where our students spent the afternoon pulling weeds, picking up sticks, and cleaning tables to help make their outdoor seating area more welcoming.

Was it hot? Absolutely! 🥵 But today was a great reminder that serving isn’t always easy. We talked a lot about pushing through when things get hard and choosing to serve others with joyful hearts, even when we’re tired and sweaty. That’s what willing agents do!

We are so proud of these kids and can’t wait to see what God has in store for the rest of the week! ❤️

What a fun way to wrap up an amazing year with our Step Up 4th & 5th graders! 🎉

Before our 5th graders officially move up to youth, we celebrated together with a trip to Activate and, of course, ice cream to cool off! 🍦 We missed everyone who couldn’t make it, but we had such a great time making one last memory together.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Leslie and Mr. Forrest for faithfully teaching and investing in these kids every Sunday in Sunday School. Your love, time, and encouragement have made such a difference.

And thank you to all of our parents who supported this group all year long and jumped in to help in so many ways. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

We are so proud of this group and can’t wait to see what God has in store for our rising 6th graders as they begin their journey in youth ministry. 💙
