Troop 13 suffered another loss. Jim Dickson, former Scoutmaster, has passed away. Jim was the last Scoutmaster of Troop 13. He was there when we lost our sponsor, First Baptist Church. May the great Master of all scouts be with us until we meet again.

Troop 13 was formed in 1934 by a group of men from the First Baptist Church in Adrian. The original charter was in November of that year. Alvah Knight signed on as Scoutmaster and Clifford Webster served as Assistant Scoutmaster. Both of these men would go onto other roles in scouting over the years. Cliffors would leave Troop 13 to start a new troop at Lincoln School called Troop 9. Alvah would step down as Scoumaster in 1947. He would eventually move up to the position of Council President for the Wolverine Council whiuch at that time consisted of Lenawee and Monroe Counties. Both men would receive National Scout recognition for their work with boys in scouting through the Silver Beaver Award. This is the highest award a local council can present.
