Today is Friday, not just any Friday, but what Christians call Good Friday. The only thing good that came out of this day is our salvation. Are you standing or kneeling at the foot of the cross? Do you realize the agonizing and excruciating death Jesus went through? I dare you to check into "death by crucifixion". It's horrible! But that's what our Savior went through...for you and me! It was prophesied. It had to happen.
It's Friday, the day of preparation for the Passover. About 3pm darkness fell over Jerusalem and it stayed dark for three hours. ( In the middle of the day.) Not long after that, Jesus said, "Father, into your hands I commit My spirit." And the earth shook and the veil split, (a 60ft. high and 30ft. wide and approx. 4 inches thick. it required 300 priests to move.) Do you get the significance of this? And Jesus' suffering ended.
A man named Joseph of Arimathea goes to Pilate and asks for Jesus' body. The account in Luke says there were witnesses to all of this; how his body was prepared and laid in a tomb that had never been used.
Now, we wait three days. It's coming! Are you ready?
Days before, Jesus asked his disciples who they said He was. (Matt. 16:15). Peter answered for all of them and says, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." And Jesus says to him, "Blessed are you, Simon, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my father in heaven."
Who do you say Jesus is? Who is He to you?
Just a question.
