Romans 14:1 ESV

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

At this past summer one of the takeaways of the week was “different shouldn’t mean distant” in this day and time and in this election season ESPECIALLY, i believe we need to be reminded of that. you ever heard that saying “birds of a feather flock together” yep me too… the old English proverb means that like attracts like, that you’re similar to those u hang around. Social media is a lot like that too. i’ll bet your feed isn’t too diverse. i’d be willing to be that more than 80% of it is very like minded friends and acquaintances… i say all that to say, ADD some people that think differently, look differently and sound diffently to your timeline.
“But G money, why would i do that” because that soap box you get on daily can’t change the minds of people that already think like you and believe like you. If we’re your feed is comfortable and when you scroll (outside of the media) it’s all butteflies and lollipops then i challenge you to get uncomfortable! Extremely pressure is what causes a diamond to form. an uncomfortable situation that happens just LONG enough causes change, NOT you “preaching to the choir”. think outside the box, try to understand someone that doesn’t think like you, “different doesn’t have to mean DISTANT”

Proverbs 2:3-5 ESV

Yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

If you don’t know, ask, if no one will tell you the answer, dive in… as we go through life and our day to day activities (especially recently) i’ve been told things by various people, theologians and pastors alike, that stopped me dead in my tracks. i had to open the book,
dive in true discernment took place. i didn’t even know what it actually meant or what took place. during that period of time. For me, it has been constant prayer, devotion and digging into the scripture to find the right answer. If we want to figure out how to change the water pump on our own we will typically go to youtube or call a friend we consider an expert but is something so important as eternal life we think we’re gonna figure it out all on our own… Ask for help! ask questions, don’t risk your eternal salvation to your own understanding. your eternity should be more of a priority than a wheel bearing or “how to make soap….or the best hamburger cheese dip recipe” we waste hours a week looking into things and researching that which actually has so little significance, comparatively speaking.
Dive in… you’ll be glad you did.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

admitting that your wrong is hard, taking responsibility is one of the toughest things you will ever have to do… next to reconciliation. 1 and 2 are much easier for me now than they were 90 days ago. I fall short EVERY single day, part of my daily prayer is that “dear heavenly Father, please help me grow not only closer to you but grow to be a better version of me, daily”
Forgiveness and reconciliation is a “grown up” thing to do,,, i consider myself to have been a grown up for quite some time now, BUT it’s still a struggle for me… I’m grateful for His Grace, it’s sufficient and continues to give me these “mulligans” in life, so i can redo it, get another shot, to hopefully get it right one day! He’s got you, wants what’s best for you and wants reconciliation to be a part of your day to day vocabulary and actions.

Luke 15
1 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

Seemed fitting to have this on my mind all week and then things in. the MSM continue to happen to remind me of the first 2 versus, over and over again…

Do we find ourselves playing the role of the pharisees/scribes OR are we the sinners/tax collectors??? Are we GRUMBLING everytime we get on bookface or are we “drawing near to hear” the ONE TRUE KING??? Have we gotten so full of ourselves that discipleship is only for the ones whom already believe or maybe we get to pick who hears the Gospel based on our convoluted sliding scale of the hierarchy of how bad someone’s sin is….
CONTINUE reading what Luke says in chapter 15… 1-32
i 🙏🏼 that you do!

John 4: 16-26
VOTD

16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

There are soooooo many different lessons from the woman at the well, which happens to be one of my top 3 stories from the bible. i want to focus on 1 of those, this morning.

Some of you woke up today, feeling “less than” or unworthy. i’m here to tell you that you’re not the sum of your past mistakes… We’re all human, none of us are perfect. you see the woman at the well was a Samaritan and Jews weren’t supposed to associate with them. not only that, instead of picking a disciple or prophet to evangelize for him, he picked this woman. one whom had 5 previous husbands and the one she was with wasn’t one of those… some of you may have woke up sometime in your life believing God has directed you to disciple for him and expand his kingdom… you didn’t believe what you heard or felt because in your mind, you weren’t good enough. I’m here to tell you, that there is never a better time than now and that YOU are worthy. It’s not our job to questions the “why me Lord” it’s our job to recognize it and to move forward. A broken woman with more than 5 husbands and Christ (according to society) who wasn’t even supposed to interact with her, was chosen to make an impact, spread the good news and disciple directly for the almighty.
You are not the sum of your worst mistakes and are MORE than worthy to do His work!

Ruth 1:16-17 ESV

But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”

Loyalty and Faithfulness come to mind after reading these 2 versus over and over this morning. Anxiety tends to get the best of me from time to time, even though i try to lay everything down at His feet… but there are times in my life when my walk with Him wasn’t nearly as strong as Ruth’s, as a matter of fact, it was mostly nonexistent. I think we’ve all been there, since before i was born, my dad, was a Braves fan. Wore the colors, had a few hats and Tshirts through the years. through the winning and losing seasons his loyalty and faithfulness, in them was rock steady. In my quest for loyalty and faithfulness like Ruth and wanting to follow Christ like my dad loved the Braves, the ONLY thing that’s gotten me closer to that goal has been His Grace and devotion. He knows I’m not gonna make it every sunday, He knows sometimes i’m gonna just go through the motions, He knows I’m going to fall short, over and over again and yet here I am… creeping closer and closer to trying to live in His shadow. If it wasn’t for His grace and devotion to me, I wouldn’t be here to type this at 4:45 in the morning. He woke me up this morning, air in my lungs and put the scripture in front of me… among hundreds of other things, for that I am grateful and my loyalty and faithfulness grows.

Romans 12:2 ESV

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

conform… To be or act in accord with a set of standards, expectations, or specifications:

i wanted to look up the definition of the word this morning, since this verse seems to be exactly what we NEED to hear, right now.

With EVERYTHING going on (especially recently) i find myself digging deeper into the word, looking for answers. this verse also says “through testing” discernment will follow.

“renewal” or reset,,, “transformed by a renewal of your mind” the way that you process and think about things MUST change in order to be tested and to discern the true will of God.

What got you here, isn’t what’s going to take u forward, a transformation must take place.

Revelation 14:13 ESV

And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them”

That dash on the headstone often seems to be an afterthought. As i witness so much devastation and loss around me, this verse stood out in this morning’s devotion. When it’s all said and done and the good Lord calls your name, will your deeds follow you? Service above self? works and no faith? zero discipleship? faithful, consistent giving? speaking life instead of death? these things cross my mind this morning and reminded me that i need to do more, i continue to fall short and my works for his kingdom are in their infancy. I encourage you to take a self inventory this morning. A real look INward to see how u can improve your OUTward impact, in his name!

John 15:12-14 ESV

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you”

So often “we can’t see the forrest from the trees” Love is the GREATEST of them all. With all of this political theatre, inflation, day to day struggles and stressors, we’re COMMANDED to LOVE one another as we’ve been loved by HIM! Before we speak 🗣️ let’s remember the power of the tongue and to speak life and love, FIRST… start a new habit of building up, encouragement and hope.

Matthew 6:33-34 ESV

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

it’s kinda like fishing… 🎣 you don’t got catching, you go fishing. it’s the pursuit of the fish, the time invested, the baits, the tackle, the boats, the books and shows… Fishing ain’t called catching.
It say to seek FIRST the kingdom… doesn’t say to get it or to catch it… the pursuit of it is supposed to be FIRST! not second or third. Not after you work or family but FIRST. His kingdom and righteousness will be given to you, you’ll catch it, BUT He’s gotta be FIRST and in the pursuit, the Bible, the prayers, speaking life and all of those things that come with the journey MUST take place. it’s hard to catch a fish without a rod and reel… NOT impossible but highly unlikely. it’s NOT impossible to reach the Kingdom without the Bible or Prayer but it willl def be a lot harder. He’s given you tools to use on your journey, use em and seek him FIRST!

1Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

There’s one thing to do with our cares and worries which is to throw them down, away from yourself. Throw them, from you, to God.
When a fisherman casts a net or a fishing line, he forcefully throws it away and leaves it there. Visually that’s what we need to do, more often with our cares and worries. We need to throw them to God, lay them at his feet! He wants to unburden us and build a strong relationship of love and trust. He died so that you and I could have everlasting life, so I believe taking some worry off of you would be easy for Him. He’s got you, always has and always will!
