DO NOT BE AFRAID

It is written in Luke 8:23'25 'As they sailed Jesus fell asleep. And a windstorm came down the lake. The boat was filling with water and they were in danger. The disciples went and woke Him saying; Master, Master, we are perishing! And He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves.

The wind stopped and the sea became calm. Jesus said to them, where is your faith? They were fearful and asked one another, Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!’ Notice what is at work in this story:

A fearful spirit. No matter how often God blesses us and answers our prayers, we still give in to fear the next time we face a crisis, especially when it’s a crises that has repeated itself. Understand that faith doesn’t exempt you from life’s storms; it equips you to go through them. And when you are in the will of God no storm, however severe, can take you under.

Jesus knew the storm was coming before the disciples ever stepped into the boat. So why did He expose them to it? ..Because He was equipping them for the future, for the day when He’d no longer be around and they would face persecution, imprisonment, and even death. So the word for you today is, “Don’t be afraid. The Lord is with you in the storm you are in right now; and He will help you make it to the other side.

WARNING ⛔️
You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. - James 4:4

No enemy of God has a future! Are you in love with worldliness? Are you influencing the world or is it influencing you? Do you behave like the worldly people? Do you enjoy the things of the world more than the things of God?

Do not conform and be like the world (Romans 12:2), be different in character, behavior, speech, love, kindness, purity. You’re now born from above, embrace your new identity. Let lying and profanity be far from you. Don’t flirt or play with sexual temptation lest it will end in tears and shame, instead learn to cut off people or anything bringing this. Don’t tolerate it, cut it off immediately. Cut off ungodly music, movies/series, or bad company because you’re feeding the flesh. Don’t be a friend of the world and end up an enemy of God. Every enemy of God is a disaster waiting to happen.

ALLOW GOD TO LEAD YOU

Psalm 25:8-9 says ‘God is fair and just; He corrects the misdirected, sends them in the right direction.

He gives the rejects his hand, and leads them step-by-step. Nothing is more important in life than being led by God.

Throughout Scripture God talked to ordinary people, He told Abraham when to leave home in Genesis 12:1 and Jacob when to go back home in Genesis 31:3. He told Elijah where to find food in the middle of a famine, and He’ll talk to you too. So when you’re not sure which way to go, read His word and obey His commands and every road you travel will lead you to fulfill His will for your life.

YOUR BLESSING IS DETERMINED BY YOU

God had good plans for Saul's life, to let his descendants rule over Israel forever(1 Samuel 13:13); but because Saul's heart was not consumed with love for God to obey His commands; God cut short his rule, and said to him that He has sought out a man after His own heart; and has already appointed him to be ruler over His people(1 Samuel 13:14).

If Saul had obeyed God, there would not have been a need for David, this is because when God said He had appointed a man after His own heart, it was at the beginning of Saul's reign, and David had not been born yet. Saul was made King at the age of thirty in 2 Samuel 13:1, and died at age 72.

David was 30 years old when Saul died(2 Samuel 5:4). Which means Saul had ruled as King for 12 years before David was born. Saul’s failure to obey God's word caused God to create another human being, David to fill his position. This is to tell you that if you fail to obey God to make use of the talents and gifts He’s placed within you, God will not sit and wait for you to change your mind, He will choose someone to fulfill the purpose you failed to accomplish.

So whatever God has called you to do, do it faithfully so that you and your future descendants will receive permanent blessings from God.

EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT

No matter what you face today, the Lord is able to help you through it, because Romans 8:11 says the same Spirit of God that raised Jesus Christ from death lives inside of you.

If your hope appear lost today, or you are experiencing some trial or discouragement... look to the empty tomb, be encouraged, and find the assurance that everything is going to be all right.

Your Savior is alive and interceding on your behalf—so there is absolutely nothing in this world that should ever take away your joy and confidence in His perfect provision.

Romans 8:31-32 says “If God is for you, who can be against you? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” Cheer up and do not be discouraged, for the LORD is able to do exceedingly beyond what you have asked of Him!

GROW YOUR FAITH

It is written in Hebrews 11:1, "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for, will actually happen; faith gives us assurance about things we cannot see. And because The God we serve is Spirit(invisible), we are required to have "FAITH", in order to worship and receive from Him.

So if you want to know how strong your faith is, pay attention to what’s coming out of your mouth, for it states in Hebrews 4:2, “The Word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. It’s not enough to read God’s Word; you must believe it, receive it as your own, then vocalize it.

You may say "right now my faith is very low-and can't believe what God's Word says about me.” Romans 10:17 says "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So if your faith is low, start spending more time reading God's Word. If you’re serious about growing in faith, it’s a price you must be willing to pay. You will not regret paying this price(spending time reading the Bible), because like Wi-fi, your "faith" will connect you to the things God has already provided for you in Spirit.

WISDOM FOR MARRIAGE.
Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Does your marriage have “multitude of counselors”? If it does not then there is no safety.

It is hard to present truths in your marriage to your spouse because it can easily be seen as you defending yourself or attacking them.

It is better if it comes from a third party you both honor. The one with humility in the marriage will listen or better yet both will have enough humility to listen and act. God gives grace to the humble and so whoever listens will be rewarded by God.

Choose another couple that loves and honors God and intentionally submit and honor them. Intentional submission and honor is a treasure before God as it checks the hearts of people against pride and rebellion.

Your spouse may miss the same message from you but not from another source you both honor and love. It is a good thing to have regular meetings with this other couple and not wait to go to them only when problems arise. Regular maintenance is wiser than fighting a fire in a marriage.

Be brave enough to embrace accountability. If there is no one you intentionally choose to honor or submit to, then you’re one without restraint. Strength without control is destructive.

Very early in the marriage I told my wife, “If you ever reach a point when you can’t get through to me, if I’m acting up and being unreasonable, you can contact Ps Benjamin. He is my mentor and God has led me to submit to his leadership!”

If your spouse or partner has no one over them, like parent or spiritual leader, then chances are there is rebellion or pride locked up deep in their hearts and waiting for the right conditions to manifest. The way to flash out the rebellious or prideful spirit is to intentionally do exactly the things rebellion and pride hate, go and honor or submit the leader God has brought into your life. Don’t mistake your leader for your merely your friend, lest you miss the rewards God wants to give you through them.

BE KIND

2 Samuel chapter 9:1 says David asked if there is anyone in Saul's family that He can show kindness to. After God was faithful to fulfill the promise He made to David; to secure him as King and give him rest from all his enemies: David now had peace and sought to show kindness in the same way God had been kind to him.

David learnt from the faithfulness of God and did not allow the maltreatment he received from Saul prevent him from honouring the covenant he made with his friend Jonathan, Mephibosheth's father.

Beloved, because God has loved you enough to forgive you of your sins, you too should learn from God to extend forgiveness and kindness to people who have treated you badly.

Proverbs 25:21 says that if your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, in doing this, you will be acting as a true child of God - the same God Who causes His sun to rise on both the sinner and the righteous (Mathew 5:45). So be like David and show the same kindness God has shown you to everyone, even to those who have wronged you.

*Who Is Saved?*

July 21
Luke 13:23-24 'Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.'

LUKE 13: 22-27
Jesus said that many will seek to enter salvation and will not be able to. There are many reasons for this, but it is not because God refused salvation to anyone. 'The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men . . .' (Ti. 2:11) and God 'is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance' (2 Pet. 3:9).

There is effort involved in obtaining salvation. The effort is not for the purpose of earning salvation. That is a free gift (Rom. 5:15); but we do have to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12). Faith in Jesus' goodness is what saves us - not our own goodness - and Satan is constantly trying to destroy our faith. We have to earnestly contend for the faith. True salvation is not just mental assent, but a real heart-felt commitment.

Many people today think that going to church and associating with Christians will provide them with salvation. Some people think that they are Christians because their parents were. But salvation is having a personal relationship with the Lord. You cannot inherit salvation through the natural birth process. 'You must be born again.'

We can rest assured that all those who hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled (Mt. 5:6). 'Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
