PROJECT PROPOSAL
Title
Establishment of a Special Needs School for Children with Hearing, Speech, and Intellectual Disabilities
1. Introduction
Children with special needs, particularly those who are deaf, speech-impaired (dumb), and intellectually challenged, often face barriers to accessing quality education. In many communities, there are limited institutions equipped with trained personnel, appropriate facilities, and specialized learning materials to meet their needs. This project proposal seeks to establish a dedicated special needs school that will provide inclusive, supportive, and high-quality education tailored to these children.
2. Background and Justification
Education is a fundamental human right. However, children with disabilities are frequently marginalized due to lack of resources, stigma, and inadequate infrastructure. The proposed school aims to address this gap by offering a safe learning environment, specialized instruction, therapy services, and life-skills training. This initiative will empower children with disabilities to become more independent, confident, and productive members of society.
3. Problem Statement
Many children with hearing, speech, and intellectual disabilities remain out of school or drop out early due to:
Lack of specialized schools and trained teachers
Inadequate teaching and learning materials
Limited awareness and support from communities
Social stigma and discrimination
As a result, these children are denied opportunities to develop their full potential.
