During this sacred season of Lent, we come before you with contrite hearts, seeking your mercy and grace. As we journey through the desert of our souls, we are reminded of your unfailing love and the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. Grant us the strength to walk in his footsteps, denying ourselves, taking up our crosses daily, and following him.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)
Help us to turn away from sin and embrace the life of holiness to which you have called us. May we fast with sincerity, pray with fervency, and give alms with generosity, knowing that our actions are pleasing to you.
“But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:17-18)
Grant us the grace to forgive as we have been forgiven, to love as you have loved us, and to show compassion to those in need. Let our hearts be transformed by the power of your Spirit so that we may be instruments of your peace and agents of reconciliation in a broken world.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
As we journey through the desert, may we be nourished by your Word and strengthened by the Eucharist. Help us to persevere in prayer, trusting in your providence and relying on your grace to sustain us.
“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)
Guide us, O Lord, through the darkness of this world, and lead us into the light of your eternal kingdom. May our Lenten journey be a time of spiritual renewal and growth, drawing us closer to you and to one another.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
