Masjid Sowedi Qurban 2026]*
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
This is a message from Masjid Sowedi in Uganda, with a reminder about the blessed act of Qurban, also called Udhiyah.
Udhiyah is the Sunnah of sacrificing a livestock animal during Eid al-Adha, on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah. It is the Day of Nahr, the greatest day of the year in Islam. It commemorates the obedience of Prophet Ibraheem, alayhis salam, and his willingness to sacrifice for the sake of Allah.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“So turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice.” [Surah Al-Kawthar 108:2]
And again:
“Say, verily my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.” [Surah Al-An’am 6:162]
One sacrifice is enough for an entire household. The meat is divided into three parts: one for your family, one for relatives and friends, and one for the poor and needy.
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan and other scholars remind us that eating from your own Qurban is part of the Sunnah. Doing the sacrifice locally allows your family to witness it, share the meal, and teach your children the meaning of Eid.

We invite you, our brothers and sisters, both here in Uganda and abroad, to give your Qurban through Masjid Sowedi.
1. A full cow or bull is $400, which is 1,500,000 UGX.
2. A goat or sheep is $68, which is 250,000 UGX.
3. A cow share is $59, which is 220,000 UGX.
Please make your payment early so we can plan and ensure the meat reaches needy families on time.
