11th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME | ST. DANIEL COMBONI PARISH KOKORIA
Dearly beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
The choosing and the sending of the Disciples reminds each and everyone of us that we have been entrusted with a specific work to do in the world we live in. In the end, every specific work alotted to each and everyone of us is geared towards working for the spiritual and physical liberation of our fellow brothers and sisters (in the human family).
One of such specific works is prayer; we pray not because we want to convince God, but to have our hearts transformed from selfishness to generosity, from despair to hope and from sinfulness to true conversion.
Compassion (increasingly being erased from modern people's conscience by consumerism trends) is another work we can do. In our day to day lives, we encounter the hungry, the sick, the oppressed and the abused, etc, but unfortunately, some of us are either too busy furthering our own interests or are seeking a good and better life, so much so that we fail to be moved with compassion for the least of these poor ones of Yahweh who in their human misery find themselves abandoned and dejected like sheep without a shepherd.
Me and you are the modern-day disciples Jesus wills to send to bring hope and blessing to the poorest of the poor in our society. The question is: are we ready to go out there ( at home or in the street or at the workplace or to a community project site or to Church), to serve and love a brother or a sister in great need with that same goodness which we recieve from Our Father who art in Heaven?
