James 1:27 (KJV)
As Salvation Tower Ministry continued to grow, I became increasingly aware that preaching the Gospel alone was not enough. Jesus not only preached the Kingdom of God, but He also fed the hungry, healed the sick, comforted the brokenhearted, welcomed children, and showed compassion to those whom society had forgotten.
As I traveled through villages around Kamuli District, I saw children wandering without parents, widows struggling to feed their families, and elderly people living in loneliness. Many homes had been devastated by disease, poverty, and death. Some children had lost both parents. Others had been abandoned or neglected. Many slept hungry, wore torn clothing, and had no opportunity to attend school.
Whenever I looked into their faces, I saw my own childhood.
I remembered the days when my family struggled.
I remembered the hunger, uncertainty, the feeling of wondering what tomorrow would bring.
The Lord began reminding me that the pain He had allowed me to experience was never meant to make me bitter. It was meant to make me compassionate.
A Burden That Would Not Leave
As I prayed, the burden for orphaned and vulnerable children became stronger.
Day after day, I carried them in my heart before the Lord, and the Lord gave me different prophecies and guidance through dreams and messengers about raising and orphanage school and caring for widow families
Sometimes I would ask,
"Lord, how can I help these children when I have almost nothing myself?"
The answer that continually came into my heart was simple:
"Start with what you have, and trust Me for the rest."
That principle has guided our ministry ever since.
God never asks us to begin with abundance, He asks us to begin with obedience.
Opening Our Hearts Before Opening a Home
At first, there was no orphanage, no dormitories, no classrooms, and no kitchen.
There was no reliable source of income.
There was no sponsor promising monthly support.
There was only a burden from God and a willingness to obey Him.
One by one, children began coming around us.
Some had nowhere to sleep.
Some had no one to pay their school fees.
Some arrived wearing torn clothes.
Some came hungry.
Some had never experienced the love of a stable family.
We could not turn them away.
Our resources were limited, but God's love was unlimited.
What little food we could get, we shared.
When we prayed over one meal, God often made it enough for everyone.
Sometimes we had nothing to eat together with these children for a day or more, and we experienced a lot tears from them, but they remained comforted because we could cry together, and days of provision celebrated together
Step by step, they adopted our life style of prayer instead of fear, loving each other unconditionally and trusting God even when there’s no certainty about tomorrow
We learned that compassion does not begin when a person becomes wealthy. It begins when a person is willing to share whatever God has already placed in his hands.
The Sacrifices Behind the Ministry
Those early days were filled with sacrifice.
There were seasons when my wife and I gave our only food to the children and we the two remained trusting God.
There were nights when we wondered how we would feed everyone the following morning.
School fees accumulated.
Medical needs increased.
Clothing was scarce.
The number of children continued to grow.
From a human perspective, the responsibility seemed impossible.
Yet every time we reached the end of our strength, God reminded us that this was His work, not ours.
Again and again, He proved Himself faithful.
Sometimes a supporter would send an unexpected gift.
Sometimes a visitor would arrive with food.
Sometimes believers would donate a few clothing.
Often, the provision came at the very moment we needed it most.
These were not coincidences.
They were miracles of God's faithful provision.
A Partnership in Ministry
One of God's greatest gifts during this journey has been my wife, Rachel Kisakye and all the brothers and sisters of Salvation Tower Churches.
From the beginning, she embraced these children with a mother's heart.
She did not view them as strangers.
She loved them as members of our own family.
Together we prayed for them.
We comforted them when they cried.
We celebrated their achievements.
We nursed them when they were sick.
We encouraged them to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Many people see an orphanage as a place that provides food and shelter.
We have always desired Fountain of Life Children Center to be much more than that.
We want every child to know that they are loved by God, valued by His Church, and created with a divine purpose.
We always desire that God can turn them into vessels for His kingdom to transform the globe
More Than Meeting Physical Needs
While food, education, clothing, and medical care are essential, we have always believed that the greatest gift we can offer any child is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Every child is taught the Word of God.
They participate in prayer.
They learn to worship.
They grow in Christian character.
They preach to the community and they share the word both in the church and orphanage to encourage each other
We want them not only to become educated adults but also faithful disciples of Jesus Christ who will influence future generations.
Our prayer has always been that many of these children will become pastors, teachers, doctors, nurses, evangelists, missionaries, and Godly leaders who will transform Uganda and the nations for Christ.
God's Faithfulness Through Every Season
There have been countless moments when we did not know how the ministry would continue.
There were days when our food stores were empty.
There were times when children became ill and we lacked money for treatment.
There were school terms when we had nothing in supporting their educational needs.
There were seasons when the needs seemed greater than our ability to meet them.
Yet through every challenge, God has remained faithful.
He has never abandoned us.
He has touched the hearts of believers from Uganda and around the world.
He has raised friends to become part of this testimony.
Every child who has been fed.
Every child who has gone to school.
Every child who has received medical care.
Every child who has come to know Christ.
Every smile.
Every answered prayer.
Every transformed life.
All of it has been possible because of God's Grace
