WHY MANY CHRISTIANS STRUGGLE TO SPEAK THE NAME OF JESUS IN TIMES OF ATTACKS
In times of spiritual attack, many believers find themselves unable to cry out the name of Jesus. Despite fasting, praying, and knowing Scripture, their voices freeze in the moment of battle. Why?
Jesus said:...Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” - Matthew 12:34
The Heart Reveals the Mystery of the name of Jesus.
This is a deep spiritual mystery many have encountered:
In moments of danger—nightmares, accidents, spiritual attacks—a believer tries to cry out “Jesus!”
But the name won’t come out.
Or it comes too late.
Why?
These same Christians may: - Speak in tongues at will
- Preach powerfully during the day
- Quote Scripture fluently
- Fast and pray fervently
Yet at night, they are: - Oppressed by strange beings
- Chased in dreams
- Fed in the spirit realm
- Violated by spiritual spouses
- Visited by the dead
- Paralyzed and unable to shout “Jesus!”
What is happening here?
The mouth can only release what the heart is full of.
You can train your tongue, but you cannot fake your spirit.
In a moment of spiritual crisis, only what dominates your heart will rise to the surface.
The authority of the name of Jesus is not in how loud you shout it—
It’s in how much He rules your heart.
Think of your heart as a reservoir. If it is filled with the Word of God, then in moments of pressure, the Word will overflow. But if it is filled with fear, doubt, or worldly distractions, those are the things that will surface instead.
This is why Proverbs 4:23 warns us:
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” - Proverbs 4:23
The heart is the control center of your spiritual life. What you allow into it will determine the strength of your faith and the authority of your words.
NOTE;
Spiritual Authority Comes from Relationship
The name of Jesus is not a magic formula. It carries power only when it is spoken from a place of relationship and revelation. The sons of Sceva in Acts 19:13-16 tried to use the name of Jesus without truly knowing Him, and they were overpowered by the evil spirit.
This teaches us that:
●Authority comes from intimacy with Christ.
●Power flows from a heart aligned with His Word.
●Victory is rooted in a life surrendered to His Lordship.
Practical Steps to Fill Your Heart
■Meditate on the Word Daily: Let the Scriptures saturate your thoughts and emotions. Memorize verses that affirm your identity in Christ.
■Pray Without Ceasing: Maintain constant communication with God. Prayer keeps your heart aligned with His will.
■Worship in Spirit and Truth: Worship invites the presence of God to dwell richly in your heart.
Guard Your Inputs: Be mindful of what you watch, listen to, and engage with. These things influence the state of your heart.
When your heart is full of the Word, the name of Jesus will flow naturally and powerfully from your lips in moments of need.
Quoting Scripture isn’t enough.
Preaching isn’t enough.
Fasting without Word saturation is empty fire.
According to Prophet T.B. Joshua:....The Word dominating your heart is the Lordship of Christ Jesus in you.”
When Christ’s Word rules your inner man, you receive the spiritual license to call on His Name with power.
During times of accident, kidnap or nightmares:
Some shout “Heee!”
Others call “Daddy!”
Or even “Honey!”
But the name of Jesus cannot be forced if He doesn’t dwell richly in the heart. (Colossians 3:16)
The Word Is Your Spiritual Immunity
When the Word of God dominates your heart:
☆Temptation has no room
☆ Fear has no foothold
☆Spiritual spouses lose legal right
☆ Darkness loses access
Without the Word, you are spiritually empty and open to invasion.
But when the Word fills you:
●Your heart becomes fire
●Your spirit becomes untouchable
●Your voice becomes a weapon
●Your confession becomes authority.
The Word as a Shield and Sword
The Bible describes the Word of God as both a shield and a sword:
Shield: It protects you from the fiery darts of the enemy. When your heart is full of the Word, lies, accusations, and temptations cannot pe*****te your spirit. (Ephesians 6:16)
Sword: It is your offensive weapon to cut down strongholds, silence the enemy, and declare victory. (Ephesians 6:17)
This dual nature of the Word ensures that you are both defended and empowered in spiritual warfare.
When the Word dominates your heart, it doesn’t just protect you—it transforms you. You begin to see yourself as God sees you:
Loved: You are deeply loved by the Father. (Romans 8:38-39)
Empowered: You have authority in Christ. (Luke 10:19)
Victorious: You are more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37).
This transformation is crucial because the enemy often attacks your identity. When you know who you are in Christ, his lies lose their power.
Practical Ways to Let the Word Dominate you
1.Speak the Word Aloud: Declare Scriptures over your life daily. Speaking the Word reinforces it in your heart and mind.
2.Write the Word: Keep a journal of verses that resonate with your current season. Writing helps you meditate deeply.
3.Surround Yourself with the Word: Place Scripture cards in visible places—your mirror, desk, or car. Let the Word be a constant reminder.
4.Teach the Word: Share what you learn with others. Teaching solidifies your understanding and spreads the truth.
When the Word becomes your foundation, the name of Jesus flows with power, and your life becomes a testimony of His victory.
Many believers act out of emotion, not revelation.
They speak Jesus’ name from habit, not from spiritual authority.
If the Word rules your heart: - Christ rules your life - Fear loses its throne - Darkness loses its grip - Your voice carries power.
You don’t need to learn how to shout louder.
You need to let the Word go deeper.i.e...Let the Word conquer you—so you can conquer life.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, saturate my heart with Your Word.
Let Your Word rule my thoughts, desires, and decisions.
Give me a heart that obeys quickly and trusts deeply.
Let Your Word dominate me until faith becomes my lifestyle.
Fill my spirit so that the name of Jesus flows with authority from my lips.
