BE DILIGENT IN SERVICE

Thursday 16th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” (Hebrews 6:10 MKJV)

Be diligent in your service to the Lord, regardless of the situation you are going through. “Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:11 AMP) Hallelujah!

When Nebuchadnezzar told Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that they would be cast into a burning fiery furnace if they didn’t serve his gods and worship the golden image which he had set up, they said, “If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up." (Daniel 3:17-18 ESV)

These three men had made up their minds not to defile themselves by serving false gods or worshipping the golden image, regardless of whether they survived the fire or not. What an attitude! Live with this consciousness; God is faithful even when you pass through the fire.

The world may say, “You are young and energetic, why are you wasting your life serving God?” Let them say whatever they want to say, you are serving the living God and He is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love. Continue serving the Lord diligently, your progress shall be evident to all men. Praise the Lord!

You cannot serve God and fail in life. In your old age, you will still be prospering to prove that the Lord is good. You will still be strong, healthy and full of life, to show that the Lord is faithful and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I choose to serve the Lord at all times, in and out of season. I minister to the Lord and enjoy fellowship with Him continually. Glory to God! As I pray fervently, I stir up spiritual strength and vitality to serve the Lord diligently. I preach the Gospel with all boldness. I give generously for the expansion of God’s Kingdom. I mount up with wings and soar like an eagle. I do not faint or grow weary. I am living proof that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Isaiah 40:31 KJV
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psalms 92:13-15 AMP
Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God. (14) [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment]. (15) [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

FLOURISHING

Tuesday 14th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;” (Psalms 92:12-14 KJV)

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, what does this mean? A palm tree spreads its leaves, that’s how the righteous flourish. As a righteous man, you spread like the palm tree. Your prosperity spreads. Your influence spreads. Your ministry spreads. Hallelujah!

The Scripture also tells us that, “The righteous shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” Cedars grow so tall and they have strong durable wood. Furthermore, they live for many centuries. The Cedars in Lebanon can live up to 1000 years. As a righteous man, you are strong. No matter the kind of wind which blows against you, you’ll still be standing like a cedar in Lebanon. Your prosperity will stay for many generations. Glory to God!

Our theme Scripture says, “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.” Be committed to the church of Jesus Christ and remain planted in the specific church where God has placed you. God has released grace for you to be nourished and sustained in church. Attend church services diligently and participate in the work of the ministry. You shall flourish and bear fruit even in old age.

While others are retiring, you will be getting stronger and stronger. At 120 years of age, you will still be jumping up and down. You will still be winning souls. You will still be a generous partner in the house of God. You will still be singing in the choir. You will still be writing songs. You will still be a diligent usher. Glory to God!

CONFESSION
I am the righteousness of God in Christ, therefore I flourish like the palm tree. I spread in ministry, business, and career. I am as strong as the Cedars of Lebanon. My prosperity abides for generations to come. Hallelujah! I bear fruit in all areas of my life because I am committed to my church. As I listen to the Word of God and put it to work, I take hold of more grace to reign in life. Glory to God!

FRESH OIL

Monday 13th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” (Psalms 92:9-10 KJV)

The Lord shall exalt your horn child of God, you shall be anointed with fresh oil. You will have fresh things happening for you all the time. Instead of complaining about something that you liked in the past, give God thanks. There is fresh oil for you.

Maybe you wanted to marry a certain lady but she is already taken. You’ve been telling God, “If you really exist, give me that lady.” No brother, there is fresh oil for you. Don’t let the past limit your vision. God is bringing wonderful women of substance around you but you’re not seeing them because your mind is fixed on that one lady who is already married. Think about it, “Is it really possible that God could have created only one wonderful person?” Absolutely not! Open your eyes and see. There is fresh oil for you.

Maybe you’ve been saying, “If only I could get that job back!” God has something better for you. The Bible tells us that “…all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 KJV) Hallelujah!

Stop looking behind. “Never ask, "Oh, why were things so much better in the old days?" It's not an intelligent question.” (Ecclesiastes 7:10 GNB) Open your eyes and see the great things God is doing in your life today. If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that there are more good things happening around you than you could ever imagine. Count your blessings and give God thanks.

CONFESSION
The Lord anoints me with fresh oil. Hallelujah! Good things are happening for me all the time. God has great and marvelous plans for me, plans to prosper me and to give me a bright future. As I pray earnestly, the Lord reveals to me things that no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no heart has perceived. The Lord guides me by His Spirit. I am not limited to the past. All things are working together for my good because I love God and I am called according to His purpose. Hallelujah!

KEEP THE RIGHT COMPANY

Sunday 12th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.” (Exodus 12:37-38 KJV)

The exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt is a picture of the church coming out of the world. Our theme Scripture shows us that when the children of Israel left Egypt, they moved along with a mixed multitude (that is people who were not Israelites).

Numbers 11:4 tells us that “…the mixed multitude who were among them craved more desirable foods, and so the Israelites wept again, and said, ‘If only we had meat to eat!’” (NET) The mixed multitude wrongly influenced the children of Israel. They lusted after the foods that they had been eating in Egypt and so the Israelites started to complain as well.

This also happens in the church of Jesus Christ. Some believers keep company with mixed multitude, thinking that they will convert them. But instead, the mixed multitude influence the character of the believers. The Bible warns us saying, “Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33 AMP).

If you’re born again, it’s expedient for you to keep company with fellow believers who are walking in faith. Furthermore, you need to stay in fellowship with the Word of God and His Spirit. Then you will not be distracted by the mixed multitude.

CONFESSION
I neither walk in the counsel of the ungodly nor stand in the way of sinners. My delight is in the Word of God. I meditate on the Word day and night. The Word of God lights up my path and gives me direction. As I fellowship with the Holy Spirit, He instructs me in righteousness. He connects me to the right people at the right time and in the right places. Blessed be God! I bear good fruit in every season. Whatsoever I do prospers to the glory of God. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Psalms 1:1-3 KJV
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Proverbs 4:14-16 KJV
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. (15) Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. (16) For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

STICK WITH GOD

Saturday 11th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever;” (Psalms 92:6-7 ESV)

Have you heard people ask questions like, “Why do unbelievers prosper more than Christians?”? First of all, it’s not entirely true because there are many believers who are prospering. Secondly, though the wicked sprout like grass and evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever.

If you know an unbeliever who is doing things the wrong way but he seems to prospering, don’t envy him. He is only rising to fall, the higher he rises, the greater the fall. The person could be practising witchcraft and his business seems to be doing well, but he is doomed to destruction.

Don’t think to yourself, “If God doesn’t help me this week, I will join those who are doing witchcraft.” Anybody who chooses to join the wicked will fall together with them. Stick with God, He is faithful. Walking with God is the fastest way to get prosperity which stays. The wicked man may seem to get his own things faster but they don’t stay.

The prosperity of God may not work out in the exact way you want it to and at the exact time you want it. But when it comes, it comes to stay, it doesn’t pass away. Glory to God!

CONFESSION
I choose to stick with God. He is my light and my salvation. The Word of God is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I choose to walk in the light of God's Word always. Therefore, I cannot stumble, I cannot fail. When the enemy rises up against me, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. All things work together for my good. Hallelujah!

SING PRAISES TO THE LORD

Thursday 9th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night,” (Psalms 92:1-2 NASB)

It’s a good thing to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to His name. Do you ever take time just to sing to God? It’s not enough to sing to God only when there is a choir leading you in songs of praise. You can simply sing to God because you are grateful for who He is and what He has done in your life.

Practise singing to the Lord, even in your house. Don’t worry about singing in the best key; you’re singing to God and He knows more keys than men. Glory to God! You can also praise God with musical instruments. “It is a good and delightful thing to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises [with musical accompaniment… With an instrument of ten strings and with the lute, with a solemn sound upon the lyre.” (Psalms 92:1,3 AMP) You can have a tambourine, guitar, keyboard or any other instrument at home just to give God thanks. Hallelujah!

When we talk about thanksgiving, we’re not saying everything is going on smoothly in the physical realm, no! Inauspicious things may happen sometimes, but amidst all that, God is faithful. Proclaim His lovingkindness in the morning and His faithfulness by night. Even when things seem to be going amiss, God is faithful. In that night (moment of darkness, trouble, lack or sorrow), God is still faithful.

No matter how terrible the situation looks like, God is faithful. Therefore, give Him thanks and sing praises to Him. Declare His steadfast love in the morning and His faithfulness at night. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I sing praises to your name, Oh Lord my God. You are great and mighty. The whole earth is filled with your goodness. Some trust in horses and chariots, but my trust is in you Lord. I rely on you confidently, for you are dependable. Your mercies are new every morning. Your faithfulness endures through the night. Thank you Lord for making me more than a conqueror. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Psalms 92:4-5 AMP
For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works; at the deeds of Your hands I joyfully sing. (5) How great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: (6) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. (7) Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Romans 8:28 AMP
We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

THANKSGIVING IS AN EXPRESSION OF FAITH

Wednesday 8th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back… fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks… And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Luke 17:15-19 KJV)

Jesus perceived that the Samaritan had faith in his heart because he gave thanks. This shows that you can give thanks to God as an act of faith. You may not see something physically yet, but if the Word of God says it, believe the Word and give God thanks. When you study the book of Psalms, one of the things you will notice is that David always gave thanks even amidst dire circumstances.

Take Psalm 23 as an example, David wrote it when he was in a lot of trouble. He was hemmed in by his enemies, they were attacking him on every side. But he didn’t complain and cry to God saying,
“Why have you forgotten me?” He said, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalms 23:1 KJV) He wasn’t seeing the food and water but he said, “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures…” (Psalms 23:2 KJV) In other words, “I have provision of what to eat, just like sheep would eat in green pastures.”

He said, “…he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalms 23:2 KJV) this phrase means there is peace all around, and yet at the time David wrote this psalm, there was no physical peace around him. What was David doing? He was giving God thanks in faith. This is something you’ve got to learn child of God. Even if there’s some trouble at home, give God thanks.

Maybe there is a need for provision, give God thanks. Do not complain, complaining is not of faith. When you complain, you block the spiritual supply. If it’s time for the children to go back to school, pray with thanksgiving. Say, “Father, I thank you for the provision that you always give us.” As you pray like this, the Lord will reveal to you the things you need to do to bring forth the finances you need. Doors of opportunity will be opened for you. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
The Lord is my Shepherd. I have everything I need for life and godliness. The Lord makes a resting place for me in green fields. He is my guide by the quiet waters. As I pray to God with thanksgiving, the peace of God mounts guard over my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Glory to God forever more!

FURTHER STUDY
Philippians 4:6 AMP
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

(2) When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. (3) Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Psalms 31:7-8 AMP
I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy and steadfast love, because You have seen my affliction, You have taken note of my life's distresses, (8) And You have not given me into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a broad place.

GLORIFY GOD

Tuesday 7th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus…” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP)

Learn to give God thanks in everything. Even when you think there is nothing to thank God for, simply respond to the Word of God and give Him thanks. Do you realize that just you being alive is a testimony? Oh yes, it’s something to thank God for. You may say, “How can I give God thanks when things have been so hard?” The fact that you didn’t die means God is still giving you an opportunity to excel in life. So, give Him thanks. Hallelujah!

Thanksgiving glorifies God. In Luke 17 when the ten l***rs were healed, one of them “…turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks…” (Luke 17:15-16 KJV) The Samaritan man who returned to give glory to God was made whole, but the other nine were only cleansed. He got much more because He gave God thanks. Praise the Lord!

God likes glory. When He identifies someone who is always giving Him thanks, He gives more to them so that they can continue glorifying Him. Give God thanks in all circumstances, He will do much more for you. As you give God thanks, all those things that might have worried you will be sorted. Glory to God!

CONFESSION
Blessed be the name of the Lord now and forever more! He is great and greatly to be praised. Hallelujah! The Lord has blessed me superabundantly. Praise fills my lips day and night. I glorify God for all the wonderful things He does for me, in me and through me. Hallelujah!

Colossians 3:17 KJV

FOLLOW INSTRUCTION

Sunday 5th November, 2023
Pastor David Omongole

“And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were l***rs, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.” (Luke 17:12-14 KJV)

When Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem, he met ten l***rs and they asked him to have mercy on them. Jesus said to them, “Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.” Amazing!

In the Old Testament, people were cleansed from leprosy but not like this. The l***r had to wait until the leprosy was out of his body, then he would go to the priest with specific offerings. After that he would be isolated for some days and then he would present himself to the priest again. The priest would make atonement for him and declare him clean (Leviticus 14:1-32).

The l***rs had to go through this procedure because they were forbidden from being with other people in the community. There was a particular place the l***rs were kept in isolation, so they were always together. On this particular day, Jesus simply told them to go and show themselves to the priests. And as they responded to His instruction, they were cleansed. This shows us the power of following instruction.

If God has told you to do something, go ahead and do it, even if the things around you are not matching up. If you needed a healing or provision, you will receive it. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
As I study the Word of God and meditate on it, I receive instructions for living. The Holy Spirit works in me the willingness and the ability to fulfil the Word of God. As I follow the instructions of the Lord promptly, I experience the supernatural in every aspect of my life. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
