“Remember Lot’s Wife” — Luke 17:32
When God calls you to move forward, do not look back.
In the days of judgment, God warned Lot and his family to flee the city and not to look behind them. The fire of destruction was falling from the heavens, and the cities were being consumed because of their wickedness. God, in His mercy, was giving them a way of escape. All they had to do was trust Him and keep moving forward.
But Lot’s wife looked back.
In that single moment of hesitation, her heart revealed where her attachment truly was. Though her body was leaving the city, her heart was still tied to what God had already judged. Because of that moment, she became a pillar of salt — a lasting reminder to every generation that obedience to God must be complete.
Many people today are the same. God calls them to leave sin, to leave the old life, to walk in righteousness, yet their hearts keep looking back — back to the world, back to old habits, back to the things God already warned them about.
The message is clear: when God delivers you, do not turn back to what He saved you from.
The path of salvation requires faith, obedience, and a heart that is fully surrendered. The past may try to pull you, memories may try to tempt you, and the world may try to call you back — but God’s instruction remains the same: keep moving forward.
Let the story of Lot’s wife be a warning, but also a lesson of wisdom. God’s mercy gives us the chance to escape destruction, but we must choose to follow Him with all our hearts.
Do not look back.
Do not cling to the past.
Do not return to the life God has already called you out of.
Walk forward in faith.
Walk forward in obedience.
Walk forward with God.
Because the one who keeps his eyes on the path God sets before him will not be lost — but will find life, salvation, and eternal hope.
