Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you on behalf of Generation Youth Foundation requesting for financial support for our upcoming Menstrual Health Management (MHM) Skills Empowerment Initiative. This highly impactful community outreach is scheduled to take place in Luuka District, Busoga Region, from 1st to 5th June 2026.
In rural communities across the Busoga region, menstruation remains one of the most significant barriers to education, personal dignity, and equality for adolescent girls and young women. Due to the high costs of commercial sanitary products and a lack of private, supportive infrastructure, many young women resort to unhygienic alternatives. Research indicates that girls in rural Uganda miss up to 11% of their school days each month due to period-related challenges, ultimately driving up dropout rates and early marriages.
To address this critical gap, Generation Youth Foundation is mobilizing a five-day hands-on empowerment camp. Our primary objective is to shift MHM from a vulnerability into an area of self-reliance.
Program Objectives
During the five-day initiative, our team will work directly with local youth, educators, and community leaders in Luuka District to:
• Conduct Comprehensive MHM Education: Break the stigma surrounding menstruation through accurate reproductive health and hygiene training.
• Provide Practical Skills Training: Teach participants how to locally manufacture safe, high-quality reusable sanitary pads, ensuring long-term, sustainable access to menstrual products.
• Establish Peer-Support Networks: Train local youth ambassadors to continue distributing knowledge and advocating for better WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) practices within their respective schools.
Budget & Funding Request
To successfully execute this five-day grassroots initiative, we are operating on a lean, highly targeted budget. We are currently seeking a financial grant of $600 USD (approximately 2.28 million UGX) to cover our core operational and logistical expenses.
The breakdown of the requested funds will directly support:
1. Training Materials: Procurement of fabric, absorbent liners, sewing kits, and instructional charts for the reusable pad workshops.
2. Logistics & Transport: Secure transportation for our volunteer trainers and facilitators to and from remote sub-counties within Luuka District.
3. Accommodation & Subsistence: Modest lodging and meals for the training team over the course of the 1st–5th June program.
4. Community Refreshments: Basic hydration and meals for the attending youth participants during the intensive workshop days.
Your support of $600 USD will directly equip dozens of vulnerable girls with the tools and confidence they need to stay in school and manage their health with dignity. We would be honored to partner with you to create lasting change in the Busoga region.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and commitment to youth empowerment. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this proposal further via phone or email at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
MAWEJJE JOSEPH
