DCFP-Sermon of 10th April 2022
Theme: The People Who Know Their God . . .
Scripture: [Dan. 11:32]
Topic: How to know God intimately:
1) Seek for Him
When you seek God, you’ll grow closer to Him. The impulse to follow hard after God originates with Him, but the outworking of that impulse happens when we passionately pursue Him. All the time we are pursuing Him, we are already in His outstretched hand (Psalm 63:8)
2) Learn to ask of Him
You can ask God anything without fear (James 4:3). God is a person. We often don’t think of God as being a real person. He is not a distant deity but a close-by friend who is also God Almighty. In the depth of His mighty nature He thinks, wills, enjoys, feels, loves, desires, and suffers just like you and me. That is why we can know Him in such a personal way. This is why we should follow hard after God!
3) Know that He loves you
You will know how much He loves you! (Psalm 139:14-16). You might feel inadequate or like an imposter because of your failures. Throughout my life, there have been times I felt it was impossible to go on because of sin or a huge mistake I made. When you pursue hard after God by reading your Bible, talking to Him throughout your day, and worshiping Him, you will start to discover and really know how much He loves you. You’ll start to hear His still quiet voice whispering encouragement when you’re most discouraged. You’ll begin to feel so loved!
4) Open up to Him
Intimate knowledge of God brings peace and joy– Psalm 139:23 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart!” Knowing God well brings peace and joy! He wants us to get to know Him better so that we can experience His peace and joy beyond anything we can comprehend or understand. You do that by faithfully reading your Bible each day. Even if you sn**ch moments here and there. It’s like doing workouts in brief bursts for a few minutes, maybe ten minutes, three or four times a day. Try it and you’ll become intimate with God!
