OUR VICTORY IS IN THE NAME

Dear brethren, the Battle is never about weapons, it is about what you trust. Goliath had spears you can see, but David had a Name you cannot see, but heaven backed.

Many people lose before fighting because they count the spears of the enemy and forget the Name of their God.

When you read that verse, always remember that the name comes before a stone. If you thought that David killed Goliath using a stone, read the Bible again.

David did not throw the stone first, he lifted the Name first. The stone without the Name is just noise. The Name comes first, then the stone hits. He never said, "I come to you with stones" even though he had stones.

Learn to trust the Name before your connections, trust the Name not your money. The One who comes in the Name never comes alone.

When David said "in the Name" all armies of heaven stood behind him, a small boy. Goliath saw one boy but heaven saw a battalion. When you come in the Name, you are never alone, never small, nevertheless outnumbered.

Today, I ask you not to count their spears; Lift His Name and watch giants fall.

CONSISTENT IN PRAYER

In our opening scripture, God did not say fire shall be big.
He said fire shall be ever burning.

"Small" fire everyday is better than "big" fire once.

God commanded fire, not smoke. Many have smoke noise, activity but no fire inside.

Today make a choice to pray, silence the enemy, refuse the comfort zone. PRAY.

SILENCE IS ALSO GOD'S VOICE

God speaks loud to bring you out but speaks silence to make you.

Most of you could remember when God was bringing you out of the world, he spoke so loud. Prophecies were so consistent and accurate.

When God wanted to bring Israel out of Egypt, He spoke so loudly with thunder on Sinai and pillar of fire. But when He wanted to make them a nation in wilderness, He became silent for 40 years.

God's Loud voice gives direction and instruction to Leave Egypt but his
Silent voice builds character. When He is silent, He is actually saying"Will you remain when I say nothing?"

Fellow brethren, never regret your decision to follow Jesus even when He seems silent. His silence is also a voice for your advantage. In noise God gives instruction In silence God gives intimacy. Instruction makes you do. Intimacy makes you become.

Moses had loud encounters but 40 days silence on mountain made his face shine.

Jesus had 30 years silent in Nazareth with no sermon recorded. But that silence made Him ready for 3 years noise.

Silence is not empty, silence is full. Full of trust.

Like Saul, most Christians do not know how to handle the silent seasons of God. Saul died because he could not handle silence he forced sacrifice and ended up losing a kingdom.

1 Samuel 22:2 KJV; And every one [that was] in distress, and every one that [was] in debt, and every one [that was] discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

GOD HIDES YOU TO MAKE YOU

David was anointed to be king in public but made king in a cave. God took him from the palace back to the cave. It was not a punishment, it was making.

Child of God, sometimes you can feel hidden, no name, no invitation and you may think God forgot you. But the answer is, No. God hides you in the cave "Adullam" to make you captain of broken men first, then king.

Do not despise the broken men in your fellowship, those needy persons. It is not a sign of failure, it is the journey of making. If you become king before you become captain of broken men, you will be Saul who kills Davids.

The people that first came to David were Not mighty men but broken men. Read our opening scripture again.

You are praying, "God send me sponsors, send me rich members, send me an anointed choir." God says, "I sent you distressed ones because I trust you to turn them into mighty men."

The people in your church today who look like nothing are your mighty men in making. Do not despise them. Train them in a cave.

Remember that the Cave Season has an Expiry date but the Captain Season is Forever. One day, you will not be in the cave anymore.

David stayed in the cave for a short time, but the captain anointing stayed forever. Even when he became king, his mighty men from the cave were still around him.

Your crown is coming but do not miss captain training.

WHEN LOVE IS GREATER THAN THE THRONE

Saul said to Jonathan "Kill David so you can keep your throne."

That is what some people have done to you, they do things against you to keep their position at work others kill their friends to keep a husband or wife.

Friends change when such big opportunities come. But l can hear Jonathan say "I will lose my throne to keep David"

Jonathan said to David in 1 Samuel 23:17 ....... you shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you..... His heart was like ,"You be king, I will serve."

You need a Jonathan, someone who is not afraid of your next level, he accepts that you be promoted and he will serve you.

Children of God, let us discover our positions, some people are meant to be Jonathan to David. Not everyone of us will be at the top. It is important that you know who you are to serve and who is to serve you.

The love of Jonathan says, "It does not have to be me. If God uses you, I will sit in the second row and shout amen loudest." It is a love greater than the throne.

True promotion in the Kingdom is not going up, it is being willing to go down so that a brother goes up. Are you willing to wash the feet of someone who will become greater than you?

1 Samuel 18:1 KJV; "...the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul."

SOUL TO SOUL RELATIONSHIP

That word KNIT in Hebrew means tied, bound, conspired together like threads woven, cannot be separated without tearing. What was between David and Jonathan was not just friendship. This was a soul covenant.

The soul is a seat of appetite, emotion, desire, will for everyone man.

What this means is that you need a person like David, who is not connected to you simply because you work in the same company, not because you attend the same fellowship but a person whose emotions are connected to yours.

They will not despise you when you cry, their emotions are your emotions, you are united in desire and will. Think about what this can mean to a ministry whose members are united in emotions, will and desire.

The verse says, Jonathan loved David AS HIS OWN SOUL. That is deeper, it means that you no longer love people because you are commanded to, you love them because every time you see them, you see yourself.

Jonathan loved David as his own soul, meaning David's pain became his pain, David's future became his future.

When Saul said "David must die" Jonathan felt it in his own soul, like a knife on himself. Every David needs a Jonathan and every Jonathan needs a David.

NOTE: Jonathan loved David AS HIS OWN SOUL. That is deeper, it means that you no longer love people because you are commanded to, you love them because every time you see them, you see yourself. Every David needs a Jonathan and every Jonathan needs a David.

PRAYER: Loving father, thank you for your word. Thank you for the great work you are doing amongst the brethren through your word. Our hearts are knitted daily until the day they are perfected in love and desire for each other, in Jesus' name, Amen.

2 Samuel 15:19-22 KJV; Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return to thy place... Ittai answered... As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

LESSONS FROM ITTAI

Like we said before, learn something from Ittai. His response to David was "Where my lord shall be." Not, "where the throne is," but where my lord is. Many follow the throne but Ittai followed a person.

David was running for his life from Absolom, it seemed the throne was gone. Will you follow your father even when he has no throne in that season?

Loyalty that says "I am with you only when you are winning" is not loyalty, it is business.

Ittai said, "Even if you die in the bush, I die with you." That is why David later trusted Ittai to lead a third of the army in 2 Sam 18:2. Because he was tested in the valley before he was trusted on the mountain.

David said, "You came yesterday." Meaning, you owe me nothing. Ittai had every excuse to leave but he stayed. Loyal people do not look for excuses to leave, they look for reasons to stay.

Absalom wanted the throne without staying. Ittai wanted David, not the throne, but he later got the army. David gave him command.

Loyalty to a father gives you what competition for the father's throne can never give you.

Absalom built a monument for himself — 2 Sam 18:18 "I have no son to keep my name in remembrance." Because he had no loyal sons. Ittai never built a monument, but his name is in the Bible forever as a picture of loyalty.

Don't look for the "Absaloms" who will take. Look for the "Ittais" who will stay. And be Ittai to your own father.

Say: "My father may be weeping today, but as the Lord liveth, where he is, I will be. In death or life, I will stay." When God finally lifts David from Olivet back to the throne, then Ittai will be lifted with him.

NOTE: Ittai had every excuse to leave but he stayed. Loyal people do not look for excuses to leave, they look for reasons to stay. Loyalty that says "I am with you only when you are winning" is not loyalty, it is business.

PRAYER: Lord, make me an Ittai in my generation. Not a stranger only, but a loyal son in evil days. I will not leave my David when he is barefoot. I will be with him in death or life In Jesus Name, Amen.

LOYALTY TO A SPIRITUAL FATHER

Many preach about the prodigal son but forget the blessing of the loyal son that stayed home. There is a special honour for sons who stay.

Everyone loves the "prodigal message" but few think about the son who stayed. This is what we forget, the Prodigal took and wasted but the son who stayed kept the farm running when their father was crying. The Prodigal spent but the staying son preserved.

And notice that the father told the staying son, "All that I have is yours." All that the prodigal son got was a ring and a party for one night. The staying son got the whole estate forever.

Many people do not care about their father's efforts simply because they know a father can forgive but all they will get after forgiveness is a celebration party while Loyal sons get estates. Be wise

In 1 Samuel 22:23 David told Abiathar, "Abide thou with me, fear not." Abiathar lost everything, his whole family killed. David gave him one sentence, "Stay with me." He stayed, and he became high priest.

Every father gives impartation to sons that are loyal to him.

a) Speak well of him when he is not there.
b) Defend his vision, do not divide it. Do not gather his sons to start your own thing behind him.
c) Bring first fruit to him. When God blesses you.
d) Do not compare him. Do not say, "My father would do better than this pastor." Honour is not comparison.

God did not call you to replace your father. He called you to represent him. And when you represent well, the father says, "All that I have is thine." That is a double portion for loyal sons.

Infact the prodigal is only taking a share of what the staying son kept. Be careful of who takes care of what you enjoy.

David's greatest test was not Goliath. It was Absalom. His own son stole his throne, stole his people, slept with his wives in public. David is barefoot, weeping, climbing Mount Olivet, the kingdom is gone.

And in that evil day, God shows him who is loyal. Ittai was a stranger, but more loyal than A SON.

Ittai was not from Israel. He was a Gittite from Gath, Goliath's city. He had just come 3 days ago. 2 Sam 15:20; "Whereas thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us?"

David told him, "You are new, go back. You do not owe me loyalty." But Ittai refused.

Many sons who ate at David's table left. Absalom left, Ahithophel, his counsellor, left. But a stranger from Gath said, "Where you are, I will be."

Pastor, hear this: Sometimes loyal sons will come from unexpected places, not from your tribe, nor from your family. Do not despise those you count new in your church, They may be your Ittai. Absalom was a son by blood, Ittai was a son by loyalty. Loyalty is greater than blood.

GOD SHOWING OFF IN YOU

When God wants to show off, He does not pick the already shining. He picks the forgotten.

He picked David last in line, in the bush with sheep, not even invited to the sacrifice and made him king in front of his brothers.

He picked Gideon, hiding in winepress, calling himself least and made him deliver a nation.

He picked Joseph in prison, forgotten by a cupbearer for 2 years and in one day made him ruler in Egypt.

He picked Jacob alone, stone pillow, fugitive and gave him a ladder to heaven and made him Israel.

Why? So no man can say "we made him." So all glory goes to God.

God is about to show off through you, your story did not end, it is just begining.

Let them count you out. Let them say you cannot grow. Let them say your assignment is too hard. That is the perfect stage for God to show off.

Your story will not end with "he tried." It will end with "look what God did."

God is about to show off with your life, your church, your vineyard so that men will say, surely the Lord is in this place.

Do not quit. The show is about to start.
