The Stivers in Tanzania

The Stivers in Tanzania Brandon and Melissa Stiver are directors of Kingdom Families, an orphan care ministry in Tanzania foc On August 27th, 2015, we adopted our son Moses Michael.

We are Brandon and Melissa Stiver and the Lord has given us a special calling to serve His people in Tanzania. We are the directors over the Kingdom Families project at Global-Effect Ministries. The premise is getting orphaned and abandoned children into loving Christian families through empowering, inspiring and facilitating the foster parents. We also do discipleship training throughout the Kili

manjaro region. While we were both called individually before ever meeting, the Father had something special in the works and brought us together for this special Kingdom work. Brandon first moved to Tanzania in January of 2010 and began work at a wonderful Christion children's home called Treasures of Africa. In that dual-postion he served as Education Director and Business Manager. He loved pouring himself in those children and seeing them grow as the Lord has placed a special call on both Brandon and Melissa to serve, love and parent orphans. Melissa first came to Tanzania as intern with Global-EFFECT Ministries in July of 2010. Between her work at a local Christian boarding school and churches in the area, she learned a great deal about ministry abroad and the Lord confirmed His call for her to the work in Moshi. After we got married in June of 2011, we returned to Tanzania the following month to continue the work at the children's home. The first year of marriage and ministry was a tremendously growing time together full of highs and lows. After nearly a full year in Tanzania, we returned to the states in May 2012 as Melissa was five months pregnant. Our daughter Promise Susan was born on September 21st, 2012. We returned to Tanzania in January 2014 after a season working at a church in California as we got our bearings as new parents. We are now focused on the Kingdom Families project at Global-Effect and also do discipleship training in various settings. During a furlough in California, our son Shepherd Aaron was born on December 1st, 2014. Moses is a boy that we'd known for a long time as he was at Treasures of Africa with us. We're so blessed to be raising our three children in this wonderful country and leading orphans out of institutions, off the streets and into families. We've always said that whenever the day comes for us to return to the states, it would have to be God leading us in that decision. As 2018 is drawing to a close we see that that time has now come. Though it's bittersweet, we're excited to announce that in November of this year, our family will be moving back to California. We're so thankful for everyone that has supported us in various ways over the years as we made Tanzania our home and worked hard in advocating for ethical orphan care in Kilimanjaro. There's a lot more to share, so we'd love for you check out our post through the link below. California, here we come!

We're so glad to share that we'll be at the Welcoming Children Home Adoption and Foster Care Conference this year at Grace Church in San Luis Obispo. Brandon will be leading a workshop on Family Based Care in the Majority World.

This is a conference that we absolutely love and are grateful for our friends at GraceSLO that graciously put this on.This will be our fourth time at the conference and second time presenting. We're grateful to be back again as it coincided with our upcoming furlough. Plus, Jason Johnson is the keynote speaker which we're excited for. If you're on the central coast, make it a point to put this on your calendar. Conferences like this are not common enough and it will be informative and refreshing. Sign up and be a part of this important ministry!
