Christian Science Society, Mwanza is one of the world-wide branches of The First Church of Christ Scientists (TFCCS) in Boston Massachusetts U.SA. Christian Science, is a religious denomination founded in the United States in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy (1821–1910), author of the book that contains the definitive statement of its teaching, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (1875).

Christian Science began in 1866 when Mary Baker Eddy was healed of severe spinal injuries caused by a fall on ice. This healing came after she re-read one of the so-called miracles in the Bible and realised that it was not a miracle but the application of divine law, the understanding of which could bring healing now as surely as it it did in Jesus’ time.
