YMCA is a Christian Ecumenical Organization run by volunteers and staff founded in the spirit of volunteerism and self Reliance, Development, self Determination and Fellowship. Support to young families
To start a family maybe a challenge for a young person especially considering the complications involved in relationships and taking care of children. Through some of our facilities such as; kinder
garten, healthy care centers and training centers, we work with young people and their families, rebuild relationships and improve their trust in their commitments. We offer support through a range of activities, including childcare services, school and after school activities, counseling, youth gatherings through sports activities and career guidance. And by working in partnership with local churches and local governments through our local branches, we provide services of relevance to young people.
2. Participation For development
We share a belief in the true meaning of participation for development.
“Participation for development means that, the poor are involved in identifying the problems they face, determining ways to overcome them, designing realistic plans to achieve those goals, and carrying them out. From participation grows empowerment. People who truly participate in their own programmes are permanently strengthened.”
“Go to the people; live with them; learn from them; plan with them; work with them; start with what they have; teach by showing; let them learn by doing; not by a show case but by patterns; not by odds and ends but by system; Not to conform but to transform; not a relief but a release.”
