New Day: Every time we hear the term "Politics" we readily associate it with that which is "secular" or that which is "worldly" and therefore, we simply are locked out of active and legitimate participation in the Kingdom building process.
If the Ekklesia is serious about the development of God’s political agenda (or the political dimension of Jesus— Christos) in the earth, then, we must confront the sacred-secular divide in the minds of the saints.
This sacred-secular divide produces a set of limitations and deficiencies within the Ekklesia, in that it reduces the Ekklesia to an impotent religious establishment incapable of offering real and pragmatic input into critical issues of the day facing mankind.
From a classical definition, politics (from Greek: politiká, 'affairs of the cities') "comprises all the activities of co-operation, negotiation and conflict within and between societies, whereby people go about organizing the use, production or distribution of human, natural and other resources in the course of the production and reproduction of their biological and social life" (Adrian Leftwich). It simply can be described as "the art or science of government."
In the beginning, God did not have a church service or a religious activity, He formed life and thus, initiated Government. A political orientation of the Kingdom begins with the acknowledgement that God is the architect of the political process; He forms, develops and regulates human existence (Gen.1:1:31).
God consecrated and mandated man to continue with this process of mobilisation and regulation of society to produce progressive and sustainable development in human existence (government)— Genesis 1.
Genesis 1 therefore, lays the foundation and basis for a proper and practical definition for politics from a kingdom perspective.
The truth is, we must be willing and intentional to breakaway from the limitations of the "religious mindset" that has enslaved us for centuries and begin on a journey and a process of rediscovering and understanding that we have a "political" mandate of forming and developing a just and equitable system of human existence. This requires a different kind of mindset (Kingdom Mindset) and approach to the current church model! Selah!
Genesis 1:1 (NIV)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good,
Psalms 24:1(NIV)
The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
Genesis 1:26-28 (NIV)
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.
