Support for Tibetan monk, Chet Bahadur Ghalan This page is devoted to Tibetan Monk Chet Bahadur Ghalan. He was set up for drugs and served 18 years in a Thailand prison. He is rebuilding his monk life again.

Chet is back in Nepal, starting his life again as a monk. His hand-painted Thangkas are forsale. Tibetan Monk Chet Bahadur Ghalan was jailed in Bangkok in the famous Bangkwang Prison for 18 years. He has been found guilty by a Thai court of drug trafficking - an offense punishable with capital sentence or life imprisonment. Chet Bahadur Ghalan was arrested by Thai police during a raid in a guesth

ouse, where he shared a room with other people. His only crime was that he traveled on forged documents, but the police found drugs in this room. He was on his way from Nepal to Australia, to find support for his quest to build a monastery - since he was a Tibetan monk from age 17. Chet - at that time - hardly spoke English, let alone Thai and so he was incapable of fully understanding what he was accused of and the consequences. The Thai court dismissed his status as a Tibetan Buddhist monk and treated him as a drug trafficker. Chet was released out of prison 2019 and now resides in the Mountains of Nepal. He continues to paint and all the funds go back to Chet to help him start a little monestary in Nepal. He also does commissions as he is an excellent painter.
