Today we celebrate the feast of St Josephine Bakhita, a woman whose life speaks powerfully to our own journeys. Mass was presided over by our Bishop Jose Luis.

Our Religious Sisters elaborated more about St Josephine Bakita. She experienced deep suffering, rejection, and loss of freedom, yet she never allowed pain to harden her heart. Instead, she discovered her true dignity in God and chose forgiveness, hope, and love.

Happy Feast Day of Our Lady of Sorrows!

The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is celebrated on September 15 in our Church, the day after the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (September 14).

It honors the Blessed Virgin Mary in her suffering and compassion as the Mother of Jesus, especially as she stood at the foot of the Cross. The devotion recalls the Seven Sorrows of Mary, which are:

1. The Prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:25–35)

2. The Flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15)

3. The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41–50)

4. Mary Meets Jesus on the Way to Calvary (Luke 23:27–31; John 19:17)

5. The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus (John 19:25–30)

6. The Body of Jesus is Placed in Mary’s Arms (Luke 23:50–54; John 19:31–34, 38)

7. The Burial of Jesus (Luke 23:55–56)

The feast invites the faithful to unite their own sufferings with Mary’s, who shared intimately in the Passion of her Son.
