Esta semana desarrollamos el Taller de Comunicación Digital y Redes Sociales con mujeres emprendedoras de tres comunidades con las que el CIS trabaja día a día: La Colorada: mujeres que elaboran artesanías, artículos y prensas textiles en la Isla Tasajera, Isla del Espíritu Santo: mujeres productoras de deliciosas conservas de coco, un dulce típico tradicional y Tonacatepeque: mujeres dedicadas a la preparación de comida típica 🧡.

Durante el taller aprendieron sobre redes sociales y creación de contenido para mejorar fotos y mensajes de sus productos.

En el CIS seguimos comprometidos con el empoderamiento económico de las mujeres, brindando herramientas para que sus emprendimientos sigan creciendo y brillando. ✨

This week, CIS held a Digital Communication and Social Media Workshop with women entrepreneurs from three communities we proudly work with women artisans creating textile items and handmade hair accessories on Tasajera Island, women producing traditional coconut preserves, one of the region’s iconic sweets, women dedicated to preparing delicious traditional Salvadoran food 🧡.

Throughout the workshop, participants learned about ICTs, using social media for business, and content creation, and even how to use artificial intelligence to improve their photos and messages.

At CIS, we remain committed to the economic empowerment of women, providing tools and training so their businesses can continue to grow and shine. ✨

In Santa Ana, Peace Corps volunteer Corey and the community identified a water system that had been neglected for 12 years. 💦

Through the power of solidarity and cooperation between and CIS, we moved quickly to respond to the community’s needs in water sanitation.

Together, we deliver 60 water filters, providing safe water to 60 families (approximately 200 people) 💙.

At CIS, we believe that when organizations and communities unite, we ensure a healthier and more sustainable future for all.

Today we gathered with our Spanish students and CIS staff to celebrate one of El Salvador’s most beautiful traditions: El Día de la Cruz 🍌.

Together, we decorated our altar with colorful fruits, flowers, and papel picado to welcome the rainy season and give thanks for the blessings of nature. For many of our students, it was their first time experiencing this tradition — a moment to learn, share, and connect with Salvadoran culture in a meaningful way.

Community, culture, and learning come together at CIS… and today’s celebration reminded us why these spaces matter. 🌸🌽🍊

| Meet the incredible women behind Conservas de Coco El Espíritu Santo, a microenterprise born on in Isla Espíritu Santo, Puerto El Triunfo, Usulután, where coconuts are abundant and creativity thrives.

For generations, coconut has been part of their daily lives — now, through CIS’s Women’s Microenterprise Program, it has also become a source of stable income and empowerment. 🥥✨

With training in product development, marketing, and financial skills, these women transformed a local resource into delicious coconut preserves that they proudly sell in their communities. Their business not only supports their families, but also keeps alive the cultural traditions of their island.

This is what empowerment looks like: women turning local knowledge into opportunity, strengthening their community one jar at a time. At CIS, we’re honored to walk beside them.
