God is faithful, by whom we are called to fellowship with His Son. As men and women co-operate with God in doing the work He has given them, they go forward from strength to greater strength. As they exercise simple faith, believing day by day that God will not fail to establish them in Christ, God says to them as He did to ancient Israel: “Thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, the Lord hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” [Deuteronomy 7:6.]

Thus God is able and willing to lead all who will be led. He desires to teach each one a lesson of constant trust, unwavering faith, and unquestioning submission. He says to each one, I am the Lord thy God. Walk with me, and I will fill thy path with light. He comes to all with priceless gifts, inviting them to companionship with Himself. He would make them members of His royal family. But God requires obedience to all His commands. The only way in which it is possible for men to be happy is by rendering obedience to the laws of God’s kingdom.

Swallow Your Pride
Some people find it extremely difficult to admit when they are wrong. Even when it is blatantly obvious that they were at fault, they will drive their stake in the ground and defend it to the death! Relationships have been broken and friendships ended because of foolish pride. Sadly, many don’t see the error of their ways until the damage is done and words that were spoken can never be unsaid. It would have been far better for them to have eaten their words, ground and chewed their ego, and then swallowed their pride, because it would have resulted in a drastically different outcome. Instead of always having to be right, try and see things from another point of view. When you are looking at a situation from a different perspective, things have a way of appearing quite differently. No one is right all the time, except God, so strive to be more like Him. Colossians 3:12 tells us, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Treat others the way you want to be treated. If you want love, be loving. If you want truth, be truthful. If you want to be respected, be respectful. The Bible tells us in Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” If you’ve made a blunder, then admit it. A mistake that makes you humble is better than an achievement that makes you arrogant. Most of the time, a person’s behavior has more to do with their own internal struggle than it ever did with you, so give grace and mercy. When your ego dies, your soul awakens, so swallow your pride and display a humble, Christ-like spirit. Text: Proverbs 11:2, Proverbs 16:5, Romans 12:16, Jeremiah 9:23

The meat diet is the serious question. Shall human beings live on the flesh of dead animals? The answer, from the light that God has given is, No, decidedly No. Health reform institutions should educate on this question. Physicians who claim to understand the human organism ought not to encourage their patients to subsist on the flesh of dead animals. They should point out the increase of disease in the animal kingdom. The testimony of examiners is that very few animals are free from disease.—Counsels on Diet and Foods, 388. SUFF 2.4

After the death of Christ the disciples were well-nigh overcome by discouragement. Their Master had been rejected, condemned, and crucified. The priests and rulers had declared scornfully, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He be the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.” Matthew 27:42. The sun of the disciples’ hope had set, and night settled down upon their hearts. Often they repeated the words, “We trusted that it had been He which should have redeemed Israel.” Luke 24:21. Lonely and sick at heart, they remembered His words, “If they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?” Luke 23:31. AA 25.1

What was the result of the outpouring of the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost? The glad tidings of a risen Saviour were carried to the uttermost parts of the inhabited world. As the disciples proclaimed the message of redeeming grace, hearts yielded to the power of this message. The church beheld converts flocking to her from all directions. Backsliders were reconverted. Sinners united with believers in seeking the pearl of great price. Some who had been the bitterest opponents of the gospel became its champions. The prophecy was fulfilled, “He that is feeble ... shall be as David; and the house of David ... as the angel of the Lord.” Zechariah 12:8. Every Christian saw in his brother a revelation of divine love and benevolence. One interest prevailed; one subject of emulation swallowed up all others. The ambition of the believers was to reveal the likeness of Christ’s character and to labor for the enlargement of His kingdom. AA 48.1
