🏹 Prophets (Haftarah):
I Samuel 20:18–42
Because Sunday is Rosh Chodesh (the New Moon), the regular haftarah is replaced by the special "Machar Chodesh" ("Tomorrow is the New Moon") reading.
The Impending Danger: David fears that King Saul is determined to assassinate him. Saul's son, Jonathan—who shares a deep bond of friendship with David—promises to uncover his father's true intentions at the palace New Moon feast.
The Secret Signal: Jonathan devises an archery-based signal to communicate with David while he hides in a field. If Jonathan tells his archery lad, "The arrows are beyond you," it means David must flee for his life.
The Flight: At the feast, Saul tries to kill Jonathan with a spear for defending David. Jonathan goes to the field, fires the warning arrow, and the two friends share a tearful, final embrace before David escapes into exile.
Shabbat Shalom everyone
