††Saint Teresa of Avila††

St. Teresa was a Spanish Mystic, a reformer of the Carmelite Order and a Doctor of the church.
Born in 1515, St Teresa is recognized for having taken the first step towards reforming Carmelite Order, which then became dedicated again to a life centered on poverty, prayer and contemplation.

St. Teresa was an extraordinary spiritual teacher, in part because of her writings which include The Interior Castle, and the way of perfection. she was canonized a saint in 1614.
In 1970, St. Teresa was declared the first female Doctor of the Church by Pope Paul VI. on this day, the extraordinary faith, wisdom, and life of prayer of St Teresa is recognized.
