There is no doubt that the Christian life is a life of war and struggle against powerful spiritual enemies, โthe spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.โ
But we have the everlasting promise of peace. โMy peace I give to youโ (John 14:27).
This is what the Lord said to his little flock. โThese things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation; but take heart; I have overcome the worldโ (John 16:33).
Despite the struggle, the believer experiences peace within, and the source of this peace is โthe God of peace.โ
โThe God of peace be with you allโ (Romans 15:33).
"And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet, and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you" (Romans 16:20).
"Live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you" (2 Corinthians 13:11).
"Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you" (Philippians 4:9).
Peace should reign over those who follow Christ, "and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you were called" (Colossians 3:15).
Peace is a characteristic of the message of Christ and the kingdom of Christ.
The angels' hymn at the birth of Christ was "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace..." The gift offered to humanity is "the gospel of peace."
"Shoe your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace" (Ephesians 6:15).
"May peace always be given to you in every way."
The peace that the Apostle asks for them here is a peace unconditional on time or circumstance, but rather peace at all times and in all circumstances.
Peace was required among the brothers, especially when they were trying to reform the disorderly behavior.
This, he wrote, was not an easy matter, especially considering the possibility of Satan's interference.
However, there is no doubt that the apostle did not seek peace at the expense of truth.
God forbid, "to turn away from evil and do good, to seek peace and to pursue it diligently" (1 Peter 3:11).
