Condolence message

On behalf of the Episcopal Diocese of Aweil, Anglican Communion, Northern Bahr El Ghazal Internal Province, we express our profound sorrow upon receiving the news of the passing of our Father in God, the Rt. Rev. Nathaniel Garang Anyieth, retired Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Bor, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, 24th February 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

We join the Church in mourning the loss of a devoted shepherd, a faithful servant of Christ, and a humble leader whose episcopal ministry left a lasting spiritual legacy.

Bishop Nathaniel’s life was marked by steadfast commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel, the nurturing of clergy and laity alike, and the strengthening of Christ’s Church amidst both seasons of joy and challenge. His wisdom, fatherly counsel, and unwavering faith enriched not only the Diocese of Bor but the wider body of Christ within the Episcopal Church of South Sudan.

At this moment of grief, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved family, relatives, colleagues in ministry, friends, and the entire Christian community of the Jonglei Internal Province, especially the faithful of the Diocese of Bor. We also stand in solidarity with the whole family of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan as we collectively mourn the departure of this great servant of God.

May the Lord, whom he faithfully served, grant comfort and strength to all who grieve, and may He receive His servant into his glory.

“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:13)
May Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace among His saints, and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Yours in Christ's service

Rt. Rev’d William Deng
Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Aweil

St. Mary’s Girls High School – Development Update and Official Opening.

St. Mary’s Girls High School has reached a significant stage in its development. The school is currently undertaking classroom painting, as well as the fixing and installation of windows and doors for the dining hall, kitchen, and store facilities.

In addition, the foundation works for the toilet facilities have been successfully completed, and construction is progressing steadily toward full completion.
We are pleased to officially announce that St. Mary’s Girls High School is now open, and student registration is currently in progress.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to His Grace, The Most Rev’d Abraham Yel Nhial, for his tireless leadership, vision, and commitment, which have greatly contributed to bringing St. Mary’s Girls High School to this important level of development.

Teaching and learning activities will officially commence on 2nd February 2026, beginning as a day school, with plans to transition to a boarding school in the middle of the year, God willing. This phased approach will allow for continued infrastructure development while ensuring that students begin their academic journey without delay.

We give all glory and honor to God for His faithfulness and guidance in making this vision a reality. St. Mary’s Girls High School remains committed to providing quality, values-based education that empowers young women to become future leaders and positive contributors to society.
