IN PICTURES: HOLY TRINITY PARISH RECEIVES DEACON RAYMOND MOON AND WIFE WITH JOY AND CULTURAL SPLENDOR
Holy Trinity Parish today experienced a moment of joy, unity, and blessing as parishioners warmly welcomed Deacon Raymond Moon and his wife, Mrs Martha Moon in a needs assessment visit.
This visit follows their official welcome during Holy Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday, where the Bishop of the Diocese of Kenema, as chief celebrant, formally received and introduced them to the Cathedral parishioners and, by extension, the entire Diocese of Kenema. During the Mass, the Bishop explained the purpose of their visit, highlighting their mission to interact with the faithful, assess developmental needs within some parishes, and explore possible support opportunities. Holy Trinity Parish is among the beneficiary parishes selected for this important needs-assessment visit.
The visitors, accompanied by the Director of Communications of the Diocese of Kenema, Rev. Fr. John Gibao Conteh were received with joy and marked by colourful cultural displays as the Trinity parishioners were proudly dressed in their beautiful parish Africana attire. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, singing, and the true spirit of Christian hospitality.
The joyful event commenced with an opening prayer led by Deacon Raymond Moon, after which the Chairperson of the Parish, Mr. O.D. Sesay delivered a touching welcome address. In his remarks, he described the visit as a blessing to the parish and highlighted the many developmental strides Holy Trinity Parish continues to make. He further noted that as the parish prepares to celebrate its 35th Anniversary in the coming days, support and partnerships remain vital in advancing the growth and mission of the parish.
In an inspiring interaction with parishioners, Deacon Moon and his wife reflected on their ministry journey and their 40 years of marriage, sharing touching experiences of faith, love, and service. They expressed their delight at visiting Sierra Leone and especially Holy Trinity Parish, describing the people as warm, welcoming, and deeply inspiring.
Parishioners also had the opportunity to engage the guests through questions, suggestions, and discussions centered on parish development and pressing infrastructural needs.
The visit forms part of a broader needs-assessment mission following appeals previously made by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kenema during his pastoral engagements in the United States. The purpose of the visit was to better understand the realities and needs of the people and explore possible avenues of support and partnership for the development of the parish and the diocese at large.
As a symbol of appreciation and Sierra Leonean hospitality, the Parish Priest and the Parish Pastoral Council Chairperson presented beautifully designed traditional country cloth attire to the visitors. The attire proudly bore the inscription “Holy Trinity Parish Kenema” alongside the Shamrock symbol representing the Holy Trinity. The guests joyfully wore the outfits as they toured several parish facilities, including the parish hall, Holy Fambul preschool, and other infrastructures requiring support and enhancement.
