We bring you greetings 🫂 and good wishes from our women and children of Yarah Village, Diang Chiefdom, Koinadugu district. We believe that every child deserves access to quality education of where they live. Unfortunately, many children in remote communities in Sierra Leone are still denied that basic right due to the lack of infrastructure and other basic necessities needed to keep children motivated in schools. In my village, most parents can’t afford to support their children beyond elementary school education where students will need to urban areas secondary and university education. Many children just as myself(the admin) struggled with post-primary education. Not until when God connected me with good people before I was able to complete my secondary and university education with a first degree from IPAM in 2021 which was a roller-coaster ride.
We are excited to launch a campaign to raise funds for the construction of a new six classroom Christian school in Yarah township with a office and store which has been mainly supported by the Christian Reformed Church Sierra Leone through the office of Mr. JT Koroma. They will be providing some of the major materials needed for this construction and the community will have to provide the rest.
By donating to this cause, you will not only be providing financial support for the construction of the school building, but will also be making a moral statement about the value of education for all children regardless of their circumstances. Together we can make a difference in the lives of these children and help build a brighter future for Sierra Leone and the world at large. The children themselves with a lot of excitement are participating in making the local/mud bricks as you can see from the pictures. For now we can’t afford cement bricks 🧱 so we are using mud blocks. Classes are currently being conducted at the church building as it shows in some of the photos.
Along with the school building project, I(admin) also have a few other projects in which some are already in progress and the others will commence as the support comes in, and they are as follows;
a) Agricultural project with the church community which I have already started funding from my little savings for this planting season of Grandnut.
b) Construction of a toilet facility for the church and the school. The current school building plan does not include toilet.
c) Construction of a resource center(Library) which will be equipped with updated books and solar lights that will provide the community with a safe, comfortable and creative learning environment.
d) Planting of trees 🌲🌳 at the church’s land property and around the village as well.
e) Provision of school and learning materials.
f) Provision of scholarships to the most vulnerable and hard working children.
g) Provide sporting facilities.
