Kissy Sierra Leone Stake Joins Africa in Service at National Fire Force
FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE — 15 August 2026
In a powerful demonstration of faith, unity, and community service, members of the Kissy Sierra Leone Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined thousands of Church members across Africa yesterday the All-Africa Service Project.
The All-Africa Service Project is a special day set aside for members of the Church across the continent to come together and render meaningful service to their respective communities. This year, the Kissy Sierra Leone Stake chose to serve at the National Fire Force, Kissy Branch, where members, missionaries, and Church leaders worked together to clean and beautify the facility.
The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and genuine joy as participants devoted their time and energy to improving the environment. What began as a service activity became a powerful expression of the Church's commitment to strengthening communities and making a positive difference wherever its members live and worship.
The Session Officer, Commander, and other executives of the National Fire Force expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Church for the gesture. They acknowledged the significance of the service and welcomed the contribution toward maintaining and beautifying the facility.
For the participating members, however, the experience was about more than cleaning a building. It was an opportunity to live a fundamental principle of their faith: “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.” — Mosiah 2:17.
That teaching from King Benjamin resonated throughout the day's activities as members and missionaries served with smiles, enthusiasm, and a shared sense of purpose. Leaders and participants alike expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community and make a tangible difference.
The Kissy Sierra Leone Stake's participation in the All-Africa Service Project is a reminder that meaningful change often begins with simple acts of service. Through their collective efforts, Church members demonstrated that when people come together with willing hearts and helping hands, they can leave their communities—and the lives of those they serve—better than they found them.
Yesterday, the Kissy Sierra Leone Stake did more than clean a facility; they strengthened a community through service, love, and faith.
