*CONDEMNATION OF SAME-S*X MARRIAGE IN SIERRA LEONE* 🇸🇱

The United Council of Pastors – Sierra Leone (UCoPSL), in solidarity with the Interreligious Council of Sierra Leone (IRCSL), strongly condemns the recent marriage reported between two women in the country. Such an act contradicts the moral, cultural, and religious values of Sierra Leone, and undermines the sanctity of marriage as ordained by God.

The Holy Scriptures make our position clear:

Genesis 2:24 defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:26–27 explicitly condemn same-sex relations as contrary to God’s will.

1 Corinthians 6:9–10 warns that those who practice such acts cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.

As pastors and guardians of biblical truth, we reaffirm that marriage is divinely established between one man and one woman for companionship, procreation, and the preservation of family life. Any deviation is unbiblical, immoral, and unacceptable in our society.

We therefore call on government, religious institutions, and all Sierra Leoneans to uphold the sanctity of marriage and reject any attempt to normalize or legalize same-sex unions. Sierra Leone is a God-fearing nation, and we must remain faithful to our moral and spiritual foundations.
