🕊Blessed Feast of The Annunciation everyone! 🕊

On March 25, exactly nine months before Christmas, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Annunciation, the moment when the angel Gabriel appears to Mary and announces that she will become the mother of Jesus.

Mary’s response echoes the great “here I am” of figures like Abraham, Moses, and Samuel. Yet her response is not immediate. First, she asks a question, “How is it possible?”

Her eventual “yes” is not passive—it is a free and conscious act. In that moment, Christian tradition holds that something entirely new takes place: the Word becomes flesh, and the union between divine and human nature begins.

God decreed from the very eternity that humankind's salvation through the incarnation, but mankind has to freely consent to God’s plan for our salvation. As Saint Augustine said, “the one who created you without you will not save you without you."

Our Lady of the Annunciation, teach us to trust God as you do! 🙏🕊

Blessed Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary everyone!💙❤️

On October 7, the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the yearly feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The feast day takes place in honor of a 16th century naval victory which secured Europe against Turkish invasion.

Had the Turkish won at Lepanto, Christian civilisation would have fallen completely in Europe. Crew members on more than 200 ships prayed the Rosary in preparation for the battle - as did Christians throughout Europe, encouraged by the Pope to gather in their churches.

Though outnumbered by the Turkish troops, the Holy League, an alliance of Genoa, Spain and the Papal States, the three Catholic powers on the continent, emerged victorious, thanks to Mary's intercession.

Pope Leo XIII was particularly devoted to Our Lady of the Rosary, and produced a whopping eleven encyclicals on the subject of this feast and its importance in the course of his long pontificate.

In the first one, 1883's “Supremi Apostolatus Officio, he writes, “It has always been the habit of Catholics in danger and in troublous times to fly for refuge to Mary."

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us and our troubled world 🙏💙

Blessed Feast of the Nativity of Mary!🌟

Scripture does not give an account of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. However, the apocryphal Protoevangelium of James fills in the gap. This work has no historical value, but it does reflect the development of Christian piety. According to this account, Anna and Joachim are infertile but pray for a child. They receive the promise of a child who will advance God’s plan of salvation for the world. Such a story, like many biblical counterparts, stresses the special presence of God in Mary’s life from the beginning.

Saint Augustine connects Mary’s birth with Jesus’ saving work. He tells the earth to rejoice and shine forth in the light of her birth. “She is the flower of the field from whom bloomed the precious lily of the valley. Through her birth the nature inherited from our first parents is changed.” The opening prayer at Mass speaks of the birth of Mary’s Son as the dawn of our salvation, and asks for an increase of peace. If Jesus is the perfect expression of God’s love, Mary is the foreshadowing of that love. If Jesus has brought the fullness of salvation, Mary is its dawning.

Birthday celebrations bring happiness to the celebrant as well as to family and friends. Next to the birth of Jesus, Mary’s birth offers the greatest possible happiness to the world. Each time we celebrate her birth, we can confidently hope for an increase of peace in our hearts and in the world at large.

Pray for us, holy Child Mary, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

🌹 Journey of a Legionary: Br Lewin 🌹
Br Lewin first discovered the Legion simply by scrolling through the NUS CCA list—but little did he know how deeply Our Lady would transform his life through it.

In Part 4 of our Journey of a Legionary series, Br Lewin shares how the Legion drew him closer to Our Lady and became a guiding light in his faith journey on campus.

“She stood waiting to receive the enrolments of those whom she knew were coming to her. They did not adopt her. She adopted them; and since then they have marched and fought with her, knowing that they would succeed and persevere just to the extent that they were united to her.” Legion Handbook Chapter 1

A very blessed and happy Feast of St. Joachim and St. Anne, brothers and sisters! 🕊

Today, the Church celebrates the parents of the Virgin Mary, the grandparents of Jesus, Saints Joachim and Anne.

In their home, Mary came into the world, accompanied by the extraordinary mystery of the Immaculate Conception. Mary grew up in the home of Joachim and Anne; she was surrounded by their love and faith: in their home she learned to listen to the Lord and to follow his will. Though these holy parents might not have understood all of the mysteries that surrounded their daughter, they would have known, by a grace of spiritual intuition, that their daughter was chosen by God and given a singular grace that budded forth in an abundance of virtue for all to see, especially for her parents to see.

Saints Joachim and Anne were part of a long chain of people who had transmitted their faith and love for God, expressed in the warmth and love of family life, down to Mary, who received the Son of God in her womb and who gave him to the world, to us. How precious is the family as the privileged place for transmitting the faith!

In fact, on a spiritual level, just as the Blessed Virgin Mary can be seen as our spiritual mother, so also Saint Joachim and Anne can be seen as our spiritual grandparents in the order of grace.

St Joachim and St Anne pray for us! Jesus, I trust in You.🙏🙏
