Myanmar – Imprisoned Pastor Leads Prisoners to Christ

Pastor Sang Te was arrested on 16 September 2021, accused of having connections with resistance groups.

Christian leaders insisted that Pastor Sang Te was not involved in armed activities but was simply serving Christ and helping people in need during a time of national suffering.

Pastor Sang Te received a 23-year prison sentence and has now been in prison for four years.

During his time in prison, he shared the gospel freely among the male inmates, and 60 prisoners have come to faith in Christ.

Pray for Returning Afghan Christians.

Hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees in countries bordering Afghanistan, including Iran, Pakistan and Tajikistan, have been deported back to their home country, including Christians.

Upon their return, Christians are heavily interrogated by the Taliban seeking information about other Afghan Christians and several believers have been imprisoned.

In 2014, Shahzad Masih and his wife, Shama, were falsely accused of burning a holy book, which resulted in a frenzied mob of hundreds attacking the young Christian couple.

Shama, who was five months pregnant at the time, was brutally killed along with her husband and thrown into a burning brick kiln.

While more than 100 people were initially charged in connection with the murders, most of these participants were later released. In November 2016, a court in Lahore sentenced five key perpetrators of this horrific crime to death whilst nine other individuals received lesser prison terms.

Over the past decade, the convictions have been challenged through a series of appeals leading to two previously convicted attackers being acquitted. And on 9 July 2026, the Supreme Court overturned the convictions of the remaining three men, citing inconsistencies and weaknesses in the evidence presented against them.

DRC – Ebola Outbreak Impacts Local Churches

The recent Ebola outbreak has increased pressure on churches in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central Africa, as they carry out their ministry.

According to front-line workers, many people do not seek medical attention soon enough or refuse to change their burial rituals, thus, allowing the disease to spread rapidly.

Several local pastors have died from the disease, making it challenging for some churches to care for orphans and others needing help.

A local ministry has been mobilized and over 150 churches have been trained in the proper way to respond to the Ebola epidemic.

India - Four Christians, including a former extremist, are in hiding after being harassed.

As a young man, Mukesh joined an extremist group.

A Christian woman he dated shared the gospel with him and he came to faith in Christ. Then they married and began a church that grew to more than 60 Christians.

In 2025, Mukesh, his wife and two associates were returning home from a ministry trip when three vehicles followed them. The men in the vehicles, armed with bamboo sticks, forced the four to stop. They accused Mukesh of changing the religion of other men and harassed Mukesh’s wife.

A local leader of the group arrived with the police and fabricated stories that the Christians had come to his home and tried to convert him.

These four Christians are now in hiding because they fear that, if arrested, they would be trapped without help.

Iran – Historic Church Destroyed

On 4 June 2026, the Evangelical Church of Mashhad, Iran, was destroyed without explanation.

The church was around 80 years old but had been closed by Iranian officials for more than two decades. Some Iranian Christians hoped that it would one day reopen, despite a 2012 government ban on Iranian churches holding any services in Farsi.

The Iranian government seized the historic St. Peter Evangelical Church in Tehran, evicting 20 families who lived there.

China – Displaced Church Leader Continues to Receive Threats

Zhang Mei served as a lay leader in house churches across Yueyang, Hunan Province, for over 30 years.

Zhang and her daughter, Li Dixuan, have since left China and are now living in Texas, where Li is married to an American citizen. The mother and daughter have both applied for asylum in the United States.

Recently, Chinese authorities have been repeatedly contacting Zhang, demanding that she and her daughter return to China. Her husband, who remains in China, has also received similar inquiries from state security officials.

This ongoing harassment comes only days after coordinated police raids targeted several house churches in Yueyang.

Dr. Bob Fu, president of ChinaAid, who has known Li since 2020 when she was studying at Dallas Baptist University, highlighted the reality that persecution can continue beyond national borders.

In January 2026, 16-year-old Reena was kidnapped while walking home with her sister.

She was forced to renounce her Christian faith and marry her kidnapper.

When a lawyer sought to obtain court approval for the minor to be returned to her family, the courts initially backed the abductor, but Reena’s family eventually obtained an order for her release.

On 8 July 2026, when Reena’s mother and the lawyer went to retrieve Reena, her abductor’s family tried to prevent Reena from being freed. The lawyer called the police, and when Reena stated she wanted to go with her mother and the lawyer, the police freed her.

Reena and her family are now in living in hiding.

In early 2026, Christian translators in Morocco started printing full versions of the Bible in Darija, a commonly spoken dialect in Morocco, for the first time.

The new Bible will help Moroccans see that Christianity is not just a Western religion.

This first translation of the full Bible will also help Moroccan Christians read God’s Word, understand it better and grow in their faith.
