Pastor John Cao was arrested in 2017 for allegedly "organizing illegal border crossings" and sentenced to 7 years in prison.

He was finally freed in March 2024 but was not allowed to reunite with his wife and two children in the United States, where he holds permanent residency, because the authorities withheld his passport.

Recently, Pastor John experienced severe pain in his back and legs. He was hospitalized and diagnosed with late-stage cancer which is affecting his prostate, spine and bone marrow.

In answer to prayer, his wife and children were recently granted permission to visit him – ending their enforced separation of 9 years.

26 April 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the Christian leader's faithful ministry work. On 30 April Pastor John was discharged from hospital and returned to his hometown in Changsha, Hunan Province. His doctor intends to continue monitoring the pastor's health condition before determining whether surgery is possible.

Pray that the Lord will graciously minister comfort, fortitude and healing to Pastor John and grant him and his family peace in the midst of this difficult time.

Pray that God will make a way for Pastor John to travel back to the United States, so he can be permanently reunited with his wife and children, and also receive the medical care and nurturing he needs.

Pray that many other believers will be inspired by Pastor John's decades of faithful service, courage and compassion to do likewise - passionately proclaim the Good News of His eternal saving grace and mercy.

24 Eritrean believers were released from prison in early April 2026.

Most of them have been detained for more than two years, except for one who has been imprisoned for over 18 years.

This brings the total number of Christian prisoners who have been released during the past year to more than 400.

No official explanation was given for the releases.

According to Dr. Berhane, director of Release Eritrea, about 200 to 220 believers currently remain imprisoned – the lowest figure for the past 20 years.

Despite the encouraging outcome, followers of Jesus in Eritrea continue to suffer unprovoked raids and arrests. On 15 March, for example, 13 believers were detained by police.

Pray that those who have been recently freed from prison will be able to rebuild their lives with the support and encouragement of loved ones and fellow believers. Pray that the Lord will heal them spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Pray for those who remain in prison – that the Lord will strengthen, encourage and remind them that they are not forgotten. Pray for their early release.

Oshana and her family were conducting a prayer service in their home in November 2025 when an angry crowd arrived and accused the church of trying to close off a local roadway.

When Oshana’s adult sons tried to address the problem, they were overpowered and beaten. Several other church members were also injured in the altercation.

Oshana, her sons, her daughter and another evangelist from their church were arrested and jailed. Though the judge who granted them bail said they could continue to meet in their home, the five Christians still face charges that will be heard in court on 15 June 2026.

Pray for a favorable outcome of the court case leading to the believers being exonerated of all charges. Pray that these Christians will find favor with the villagers who confessed that they were tricked into joining the mob and making false claims against the believers.

Thank you for joining Goshen's Fellowship Night and praying for our persecuted brothers and sisters-in-Christ in North Korea.

It was especially heartwarming to hear Singaporean believers worshipping the Lord in Korean.

Continue to pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere (Eph 6:18).

On 11 February 2026, the governor of Punjab signed the "Child Marriage Restraint Ordinance 2026" into effect. This will raise the minimum age of marriage to 18.

It is hoped that this new law will protect young Christian girls from being kidnapped, forced to convert and marry their abductors against their wishes.

In addition to his law, an amendment was also adopted to take into account, specifically, the best interests of each child as its primary consideration.

Pray that this law will be effectively implemented and upheld by the country’s authorities to safeguard vulnerable young girls. Pray that justice will prevail for victims of such forced conversions and marriages. Pray that they Lord will provide healing, restoration and comfort to each of these victims and their families.

Pastor Aravind and his wife, Anjali, served among a tribal group in western India for 15 years.

Since 2014, police worked with a group called Bajrang Dal to oppose the couple’s gospel work and Pastor Aravind was beaten several times.

In October 2025, their church service was interrupted by a mob who beat Pastor Aravind severely and destroyed both the temporary church structure and the couple’s house.

Police also arrested his wife, Anjali, and eight other Christian women and threatened some of the non-Christian onlookers who came forward to stand with the Christians against the injustice.

The nine women spent five days in jail and Pastor Aravind has not been granted bail.

“God has been our strength,” said Pastor Aravind. “A lot of people who were arrested for other illegal activities had the opportunity to hear the gospel from us.”

Pray that God would sustain these precious believers with His grace and mercy as they endure the systemic persecution because of their faith. Pray that they will continue to shine for Jesus such that other people will see their good works and glorify God (Matt 5:16).

In August 2022, police raided a family camp run by the Linfen Covenant House Church, resulting in numerous arrests and the closure of both the church and its affiliated school.

Among those arrested were Pastor Li Jie, Han Xiaodong and Wang Qiang.

Wang was released in September 2024 after serving a two-year prison sentence, and Pastor Li and Han were subsequently released on 19 April after completing their respective sentences.

Despite this encouraging news, the persecution of Christians in China remains ongoing. Believers face pressure to conform to restrictive requirements placed on them whilst trying to live out their faith according to Biblical principles.

Pray for Pastor Li, Han, Wang and their families as they adjust to life after imprisonment. Pray for the Lord to restore their strength and well-being, and guide their next steps through the restorative process.

Pray for other Christian brothers and sisters throughout China whose lives and religious freedoms are continually at risk because of their commitment to Christ. Pray that they would be encouraged and comforted by the Lord's presence and continue sharing the gospel even in the midst of challenging circumstances.

Forced to Worship Among Sheep

60-year-old Jibek is the only follower of Christ in her family.

Her daughters-in-law regularly mock and mistreat her because of her Christian faith. They confiscated all her Christian books, including her Bible, and regularly checked her phone to delete Bible apps.

Jibek, who lives in a remote mountain area, looks for excuses to visit larger cities so that she can attend church services and fellowship with other believers.

She has found that the only way she can regularly read her Bible is when she is tending sheep by herself. Alone, she downloads Bible apps and watches online sermons, then deletes everything before returning home to her family.

Pray that persecution from her family would lessen. Pray that God will give her strength to witness to her family and that she will have more opportunities to visit church services and read the Bible.

For the 2nd time in two years, the Tesalonika Christians Oikumene congregation in Teluknaga, Tangerang Regency on the western side of Java Island, encountered opposition during Easter celebrations at their prayer house.

The previous year, local officials sealed the building the day after Good Friday, forcing believers to rent an alternative location to hold their Easter Sunday services.

This year, the authorities arrived in the middle of the Good Friday services and evicted everyone before sealing off the facility.

These actions were the result of local villagers protesting and demanding the permanent closure of the facility due to the lack of a valid permit. The church applied for a building permit in 2023 but the outcome of the application remains unresolved.

In the interim, governing officials intervened and provided the congregants with a temporary facility. The mayor also promised to help them find them a more permanent and suitable location.

Pray that these believers will remain patient and steadfast as they await God’s help amid opposition in their community. Pray that they will continue to stand firm in their faith and exercise grace and mercy towards those who are persecuting them.

Pray that the Lord will soften the hearts of this country's overall population such that there will be greater religious tolerance and receptivity towards the gospel message.

In 2016, after Saeid converted to Christianity and joined the Russian Orthodox Church, he was harassed and intimidated by family and community members, and the local police.

For safety reasons, Saeid sought asylum in Russia but was forced to return to Egypt in 2024. He was accused and formally charged in July 2025 for participating in a terrorist organisation, stirring unrest and spreading false information.

Saeid has reportedly suffered from physical abuse and a lack of access to many basic necessities during his time of detention.

A court hearing was scheduled on 21 April before Egypt's First Criminal Terrorism Circuit in Badr but the outcome is yet to be publicized.

Pray that God will strengthen, comfort and provide for Saeid’s needs as he remains in detention. Pray for his physical health and well-being. Pray that he will receive capable and compassionate legal representation so that all the charges against him would be dismissed. Pray that the Lord will vindicate other Christian converts in Egypt who are facing the same difficulties as Saeid (Deut 1:30).
