Happy International Day of Families!

How can we collectively create mature conceptions about family life that will nurture the necessary relationships, roles and responsibilities towards one another, that would shape a peaceful, united and thriving nation and the world?

The family unit is the basic building block of community, and beyond, of the entire social order. A family is a nation in miniature. The conditions surrounding the family surround the nation.

Therefore, a society fashioned to meet the requirements of the age of the maturity of the human race requires both a mature conception of family and the insights derived from that conception to the relationships that shape the nation and the world.

22 April 2026 - In commemoration of Earth Day, religious communities were invited to be part of the "Interreligious Earth Day Dialogue" organised by Caritas Singapore.

Invited guest speakers, Senior Parliamentary Secretary Ms Goh Hanyan and Ambassador for Climate Action and Senior Adviser Mr Ravi Menon, highlighted the important role that religion plays in contributing to sustainability and climate action. Religion calls humanity to be responsible ethical stewards and cultivates a sense of reverence for life and nature.

Effective climate policies are not merely about economic or financial solutions, but rather it depends on each of our daily actions, habits, and the values and principles we hold.

What simple practical actions can we take to be more sustainable in our daily lives, families and communities?

The body politic may be likened to the human organism. Only when the various members and parts of that organism are coordinated and cooperating in harmony, can we have as a result the expression of life in its fullest degree.

Fostering closer cooperation and diplomacy and the strengthening multilateralism are essential for establishing peace and ensuring the wellbeing of the world's peoples.

These fundamental habits, skills and relationship building are nurtured at the family and community level.
