| As we prepare ourselves for , let’s come believing that God can and He will. He is the God of the impossible, and will do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever ask or think.

The bible teaches an important principle - relationships influence the direction and the quality of our lives.

Who do you surround yourself with?

In life we have casual friends and close friends. Casual friends are the result of circumstances, while close friends are the result of choice.

The bible teaches that we ought to choose our friends wisely.

Proverbs 12:26 (NIV)
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

As humans, we are attracted by acceptance and repelled by rejection.

If we reflect on our lives, we’ll find that our greatest regrets don’t revolve around our enemies, but around our friends going the other way.

The closer we are to someone, the greater their impact on our lives.

Proverbs 13:20 (NLT)
Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

When we surround ourselves with the wise, we will by nature of proximity become wise.

A wise person is someone who fears the Lord and who understands that all of life is connected.

On the contrary, a fool is someone who knows what is right and wrong but who does not care. And eventually, the companion of fools will suffer the shrapnels of their bad decisions.

We must never confuse compassion and wisdom. Compassion will never demand a personal compromise.

As you reflect on the relationships in life, can you see the influence they have on the direction of your life? Let’s exercise wisdom and choose to walk with the right they.

In our journey of faith, there are times when God says no to the things we ask for. When that happens, how do you respond?

As believers, it can be very difficult for us to accept God’s no to something we earnestly desire or long for.

When that happens, we can be tempted to mistake His silence for absence, and to equate His no as a form of rejection.

In the Bible, we see Paul’s response to God’s no. Paul sought God earnestly for the removal of the ‘thorn in the flesh’. Eventually, he perceived that God wanted him to go through it, and he received an empowering grace to endure and overcome.

Through this, Paul discovered that our greatest weakness is God’s greatest opportunity to show Himself strong in us. Eventually, Paul demonstrated an extraordinary faith and went on to have an amazing impact which continues today.

God’s no does not equate to His absence or a lack of love for us. Therefore, in our disappointment, let us lean in closer than ever before.

God promises us grace in our time of need, and through that, we receive the privilege of reflecting His greatness.
