Last Sunday we saw Nehemiah receiving 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 from God to rebuild Jerusalem’s wall, and in doing that he did three things which we could imitate.

First, 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 (2:1) to test the purpose He has given us before we begin to do anything.

Second, 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 (2:3–4); Nehemiah’s actions showed his convinction that God was with him in the face of challenges.

Third, 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱’𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹, uncertain reality, and brevity of life (2:5–8, cf. Jas. 4:13–17).

We are limited sinners but God works in us and all things for good (Rom. 8:28), so let’s 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗺 and His purposes for us. 🙏

From 𝗡𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮𝗵 𝟭, we learned 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 about 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿.

First, prayer is to be a 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 in our lives (v. 4), the first and greatest weapon we should turn to in every moment of life.

Secondly, prayer is 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 because the God whom we pray is; He empowered a king’s cupbearer (v. 11) to lead the reconstruction of Jerusalem’s wall in 52 days!

Thirdly, prayer is to be done 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆; Nehemiah prayed day and night (1:6) for four months (1:11; 2:1) and found God answering his prayers.

Ultimately, prayer 𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 that 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗱 and we are not, so we submit to His will and plan.

Will you pray like Nehemiah did?

This week, we are focusing on R for Relationship.

We lit the last Avent Candle last Sunday. It was also the last service of the year in Journey. The preacher also delivered a powerful sermon.

We are truly grateful for the Journey community. It is important to have friends who journeyed along with us such that we don't just follow the currents of the world. As we face constant spiritual battles, having accountable friends are crucial to keep us in the right path.

Let us prepare our hearts and be ready to celebrate Christmas soon!
